Pre-orders are live!
Have to say the tone on Orbit's FB in the UK is really rather unpleasant - I know it's been a long wait but he had a reliably blistering release schedule prior to this one. He's not Martin or Rothfuss - calm down!

That is ridiculous, it's not like he didn't have a valid excuse either... people need to show some compassion...

I think people will end up enjoying this series a lot more. It's one of the best things out there.
Apt is the only one who reads this. Apt is nice.

Going to start a Dresden re-read soon. I know I won't be able to do a full re read before Peace Talks. Probably start with either Death Masks, Dead Beat, or Changes.
And will probably be determined by which one I can find first.

I keep almost deciding to do a reread then shifting to something new instead. It's sort of a big commitment at this stage in the series and the stronger temptaion is to wait til it's done done and THEN do a complete run.

Idiots with delusions of entitlement.
These are the same idiots who get angry because a book doesn't start, end, or middle the way they, in their learned more-important-than-oh-i-dunno-the-author opinion, think it should.
Sure, when an author hits GRRM levels of non-productivity (or rather productivity on everything except the thing that made them famous) it's fair to vent the spleen (splat! ...ew). The more realist of us are just waiting out his eventual death and replacement by the James Corey duo... to be clear i'm not wishing GRRM dead, i'm just expecting he will never finish the series and someone else will and that i will be alive to see it.
Rothfuss was open about his mental health issues and if readers can't live with that explanation, they deserve nothing. Butcher has been clear about the reasons (divorce move lawsuit etc) for the extended wait. They don't like it, they can go read someone else.

I missed Rothfuss talking about this - does anyone have a link, please? I did a quick Google re Doors of Stone and couldn't see anything?
And agreed - the only people who infuriate me more than the "WHERE'S THE BOOK?" folks are the ones who sit on the internet going "Look at me, I'm smarter than the author".
Here is the sea, please go give it a good look. No, closer...

Hah I am stronger than you! I will definitely not read it!
I'll just click the link so I can confirm that it is actually an excerpt, and then back out.
I won't actually read it of course.
Just a very quick peek.
I'll be OK.

I'm a bit worried about Peace Talks bc the Goodman Grey story was awful in terms of writing and general story line. I'm not going to read the preview bc it'd be an incomplete chunk that leads to needless speculation for me.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

I read the entire article and didn't see an excepts. So I think that I am ok. It was just a really really well written article that was captivating.
How many fucking people do I have to hammer in order to get that across.

It was at the bottom of the article after an ad or two. You should read it, if only for the part where Harry takes out a dragon with liquid cheeze and a toilet brush.

Still no reliable release date?
Meanwhile, it's been so long that I feel the need for a re-read. From what book would you recommend?

Has it really been five years? That’s unbelievable!
I have missed this series but had no idea it had been this long. I also don’t remember the books alternating, I swear they were almost yearly. Although by the time I got into Dresden it’s possible most of Alara was already finished.
It makes me sad sometimes to realise how long I have been waiting. When I first got into fantasy I glutted myself on the greats and the huge backlog and now the waiting really does impact my enjoyment negatively. Sometimes I forget whole plot lines or lose excitement entirely by the time a series is finished because I can’t bear to do another reread just to finish.

Haven't read it yet. Butcher's short stories have always been a bit inconsistent for me. On the balance most are at least 'good' (the Murphy-led JLC story, the Bigfoot stories), some are great ('EVEN HAND', bcs MARCONE!, the most recent Molly story), and some are 'meh' (every. single. time. werewolf girl was abducted).
I'm sure i will read it sooner or later but i tend not to prioritize. That said, i'm reasonably sure that last Molly story contained developments that will come up in PEACE TALKS, while i doubt the Goodman Grey short will.

Someone upthread suggested a selective reread of just their favorite books.
Otherwise, i dunno, maybe just the last 2-3.

I checked. It's still there.
Waiting.
Anyone could just clicky on the linky and go read it.
See...? This link right here. RiiiiiIIIIIiiiiiight HERE .
Not that you have to. Nuh-uh. Not at all. Nothing to see there.
It's really just a short little excerpt. Not even a chapter. Harry says some stuff. Someone else says some stuff. Stuff happens.
Meh. NBD.
Not worth your time, really.
