Saw this elseforum re delays in next Dresdencrack and Spires books....
He had a tumultuous few years; Divorce (amicable as I understand but, but still), new relationship/marriage, and then wanted to move to his new wife’s state but had a house custom built, and got screwed by the contractor(s) for a long time...and had to live in his wife’s tiny apartment in the meanwhile. He’s had other things on his plate, so it’s easy to understand how both Peace Talks AND The Olympian Affair got backburnered by real life.

From reddit, a more in depth explanation. Post is from this past April.

No need to speculate Jim is very open about what happened. Basically life got in the way. Since Skin Game was published he got divorced, moved, had dental emergencies, had delays building his new house, moved in with his fiance. Basically the last few years have been really rough, and he hasn't had a good environment for writing... but in that time he's still managed to publish Aeronaut's Windlass, the first book in a whole new series he had to plan out, and complete the stories in Brief Cases, and write several of the Dresden Files comic books. A lot of writers out there are slower than Jim is at his lowest productivity.
Recently he's been trying to get back on track. About 6 weeks ago at ECCC he said he has 6ish weeks of writing left on Peace Talks, finishing sometime end of April. So, unless there have been additional delays he should be done sometime soon. After that the book is off to the publishers, and it depends on their schedule but he estimates release in September to November.
After this he's going to try to get back to his usual two books a year pace.

As much as i need the crack, i'd rather have unrefined quality crack as opposed to rushed crack.

Have to agree. Considering his usual output, and the quality of the product, Butcher gets all the leeway from me for his stuff.

It is the title, it is hexed.
He should rename it as "War Drums"

That's the next book.
...if we take the usual double-entendre very liberally...
'War Torn' might work.

Those don't have the same letters per word thing he does. It'd have to be Drum Wars or something like that, which doesn't make sense, unless it's about a haunted rock band, which isn't a bad idea, but GRRM kinda did it already with The Armageddon Rag.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

We did already get a comic called "War Cry". Not that he's shied away from similar-sounding titles: witness White Night, Summer Knight, and (from the concluding trilogy) Empty Night.
"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"

It's been so long since I read a Dresden book I barely remember the cast.
Murphy, the dog and the cat better make it though.

The sheer amount of the bills suggest that there are many civilians involved.

I made a Kindle AZW3 file of that short story to read on my e-reader. PM me if you'd like a copy.

Butcher is exactly the type to do a John Wick and have Harry not know anything about it at all though.
