Can't think of a specific character he'd suit but definately he'd looks like he could suit a role in a CoD movie.

I can't remember the guy's name but he's that russian priest in Stigmata, the shopkeeper in Eyes Wide Shut, in Memento, and loads of other stuff- he should be Duiker.

EDIT: Got it, it's Rade Serbedzija!

Oh yeah! How could I forget Snatch!?

Therefore, we know he has great character versatility, and should be Duiker. Or possibly even Dujek, in my mind?

Yes, it does actually work out. He looks the part, at least, and he can be kick-arse enough to really show that noble who's boss. Another big pluss, he's not a big star, so it shouldn't cost too much.

can we drug the actors so they think they are being paid when we are stealing their money to do the production? ;)

Sure, I see nothing wrong with that :)

This is, after all, the most important movie ever!

FYI Wickens are basically Mongols (or some other nomadic tribe on the steppes of Asia/russia) Hence whomever plays Coltaine should look the part. A blonde Coltaine would be quite silly. (Ex 1940 films where they have white people play chinese/japenese in war movies)

What can I say, it's a gift that the pills can't touch. ;) :D

And Wickans are Mongol? They seem far more Native American-y to me, what with their spirit magic and style of dress.

Aye, I always had Wickans down as far more native-American, with a hint of Australian Aboriginal in there. For starters, Mongols lived in the mostly cold. The Wickan plains are hot.

I was thinking about the whole movie thing - which I'm all for, by the way - and particularly the Chain of Dogs plotline. It is focused on a revolt against an foreign imperial power occupying a rather Middle Easternish continent, a revolt led by religious fanatics and involving massacres of foreigners and "collaborator" natives. The imperial forces have to protect themselves and a whole lot of civilians from the fanatical armies....
The book was written back in 2000, if I recall correctly. Nevertheless, for someone who hasn't read the books (just seen the movie, when it comes out), it may seem to have distinctly political overtones. Anyone else think so?

Good points, although I think the neutrality of the writing helps quell any possible political bias. Also, they just recently made a big-budget movie about the Crusades ("Kingdom of Heaven"), and I don't remember much of an uproar. But then, just because I don't remember it doesn't mean much. :p

I've noticed a lot of parallels (accidental or otherwise) between the Malazan Empire and the current military activities of the US. Well, that is, a lot of the thoughts of Malazans and others about the Empire's activities seem applicable to what's going on right now. But maybe I'm biased.

Yes but the Wickans are first and foremost horse riders and pastoralists (they have bred those dogs over generations to guard their herds). Neither native American cultures or Australian Aboriginals were herders and nor were they horse riders, since horses were introduced into the American and Australasian continents by Europeans. The Wickan culture certainly seems to be based on the cultures of the Steppe (though not necessarily Mongol). After all most Turkic steppe cultures had shamanistic religions whose influence can still be seen today.

I agree having tall, blond, blue-eyed Wickans sounds odd and it would be particularly disappointing if at the same time the native Seven Cities people are swarthy, middle eastern types. I agree with Shadow_God - it will seem to have definite political overtones. SE is too subtle and complex in his writing to fall into the trap of making the book an overt tale of a clash of civilizations but in the inevitable dumbing down and simplification that happens to any book when it is turned into a movie, its highly likely that it is precisely these connotations that will come to the fore, and in all probability, these connotations that are its best guarantor of financial success.

Yeah...I'm wondering why Kallor has, like, the lowest reputation in the world. Do you guys know something we don't know? That reputation score made me inclined to disbelieve everything the guy said, even after the confirmation was provided. I kept thinking that some counter-confirmation would show up later.

The President (2012) said:

Please proceed, Governor.

Chris Christie (2016) said:

There it is.

Elizabeth Warren (2020) said:

And no, I’m not talking about Donald Trump. I’m talking about Mayor Bloomberg.

Lol, no, Kallor enjoys his negative reputation as a complete bastard. :p

It's because he used to have -666 reputation. Then some genius fucked it up for him. :D If you hold your mouse over the red blocks, you'll see it just says "Kallor."

He knows Erikson and therefore is a veritable goldmine of information right from the horse's mouth, so to speak. Unfortunately he just likes to give tiny bits away and then torment us. Such is life. :p

Fpr what it's worth, I kind of had a blend between Native Americans and Germanic styles stuck in my head. Though Huns could make sense as well. I really hope they'll succeed in making this movie.
