Not sure if this one should go in the gaming section or not.

"
For all you gamers out there ... a battle map for the first siege of Y'Ghatan (ref: Esslemont's Night of Knives). You can see that even at this early stage, we were doing squad by squad for the assault, building by building engagement, in a kind of Black Hawk Down style (before the film ever came out). If I were to put a year on this campaign, it'd be around 1985, when Cam and I were sharing a flat in James Bay, Victoria. A good many characters from that siege didn't survive it (Breeze comes to mind, or maybe she did? Can't recall!)."

Wow, a post-empire map. Didn't know that SE and ICE also played games set after the end of the empire. Really interesting

He also included his hand drawn map of Capustan in the G'danisban comments.

I've been wondering about the original map, temperature related. From the books northern Assail was like super cold but it seems to be on the same latitude as things like Dal Hon & Malaz Island, which I don't picture as icy cold. Granted Assail has the Jaghut so that could be something but it seems like it's where the equator would be and thus warm. Then again I guess the map isn't necessarily straight or accurate for how the globe would be.
Also how high Seven Cities & Otataral Island are, they have a similar latitude to the ice to the West, but they are desert and hot right?

It just seems to me like these areas in the same latitudes should have similar weather no? Then again, Jaghuts do like to come around and fuck shit up so maybe they're responsible for all the cold and ice.

The Jaghut are the ones primarily responsible for screwing up the planet's climate. Seven Cities was then further screwed up by the formation of Otataral Island, which has created a massive disruptive effect. I don't know if we have a timeline for when the Jade Statues started arriving, but presumably it was after the Crippled God's downfall, so enough time for Seven Cities to be affected (this may have also caused the original Raraku Sea to dry up).

Interestingly, to me at least, is that Erikson's Capustan map confirms a typo on the official map in Memories of Ice. On the book map, the road out the East Gate is called Fort Road. But the book's text refers to Port Road. So does Erikson's map.

Also, for some reason the official map moved Bauchelain's estate a few blocks west of where it is shown on Erikson's map, putting it nearly across the street from Gruntle's tenement.

Someone on Reddit put the map on a globe!

"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"

I can direct you here for my quick blurb on Scalion Posted Image

But in general, they do only insofar as they live in muddy huts and tepees. Their cities are mostly large masses of such domiciles with crap left out all over the place. But maybe since the Arch Deacon took over they could have cobbled together some physical buildings in the bigger cities. There are no plans to ever take the narrative to Scalion, so perhaps we will never know. Short story? Posted Image

Beginning the task of amalgamating the previous world map with SE's world map. Headaches already forming but I think I can see how this is going to work.

Biggest decision at the moment is whether to keep Genostel/Umryg close to Genabackis or close to Seven Cities. SE's original, very squarish map has it doing both, but putting the continents on an Earth-sized planet opens up a lot more ocean between Genabackis and 7C, so Genostel/Umryg can be close to one or the other, but not both. Given that the Crimson Guard travel to Umryg and back, my feeling is that it should be closer to Genabackis and thus more familiar lands.

Lether is going to need some work as well, but not a huge amount. Korelri/Stratem fortunately (?) can be left as is for now, as SE even notes on his original map notes that the design has been superseded (presumably by ICE's design as we saw in Stonewielder).
