Nope. Space Cannon Offense is part of the Movement step, not part of the Space Combat step. Any action cards or other effects (such as Direct Hit) which specify they are played "durin space combat" cannot be used durin the Movement step.

Iirc, I think she actually confirmed Gnaw's reading by PM - I remember when I was planning on how to make my provisional for Shields Holding when attacking Blend with my Flagship, she told me using Sustain Damage on space cannon was a safer bet than using Sustain Damage during the fleet combat, exactly because PDS damage couldn't be modified by Direct Hit.

I have a question for you Gnaw. Are you even going to try and score any more points this game? You haven't really been trying that hard up to this point as it is but you haven't negotiated with Tatts for Thiabah to gain the 4th Industrial planet. You've had a couple rounds where you could have tried to intimidate the council. You've had enough trade goods at various points to score that objective as well.

You've said taking my me out, which netted you all but Winnu, was a must for your game. Outside of me still being around you've had all my territory for multiple rounds and I'm sitting at zero points and could probably pass you if I gave up trying to defend against you and Tatts.

What are you doing? Do you still feel that this is the correct course of action? If not then talk to me. I'd like to try and finish this game not in last place or eliminated and I'm sure you would like a lot less pressure from having to waste resources and actions not gaining points.
