That would indeed be interesting ^_^

And about what GRRM said about 1200-1300 pages for ADWD. Hardcover AFFC (British) is less than 800 pages. Do you realise how big this book will be?

Well, remember though that manuscript pages are not the same as book pages. I believe ASOS came in around 1500 pages as a manuscript, which became about 900 pages in hardcover. That's not due to editing, but to the way manuscript margins, spacing, fonts, etc. are formatted.
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

Ok. :)

But IF we got a 1300 page book... man, that WOULD HAVE BEEN awesome ^_^

Christ, the binding would be breaking in two before it even got into the book stores. Still, I like the idea.

Yes, that's right!!!;-) I've just secured an interview with GRRM!!!;)

Voyager has just contacted me, revealing the wonderful news! The interview questions will be sent to George R. R. Martin in April, so the interview will coincide with the paperback release of A Feast for Crows.

As always, the best questions from the fans will be selected to comprise the interview. To submit your questions, just click on the comment section below. Remember that questions which would receive an automatic RAFO will not be considered.

I guess it is safe to say that we have a very interesting Q&A to look forward to!

Check the blog for more info. . .

Cheers!

Whats a RAFO?

So is this a real interview or are you just sending him a questionaire?

Or do you have to send authors a list of questions before you go and actually ask them?

I think nowadays most "interviews" with authors are conducted via email. Less scheduling overhead.

RAFO = read and find out (I think).

EDIT: A real strength of ASOIAF is IMO the characterization. All the characters feel like real people. So my question for GRRM would be, How do you approach characterization?

All interviews are now conducted via phone or email. Personally, I prefer email because you get "in-depth" answers.

So the questions will be sent to him by the head publicist at Voyager, who will then send me the answers once GRRM is done. Some authors prefer to work through their publishers, and others (like SE) prefer to be contacted directly. It differs. . .

There's too many posts to follow here so I'll ask this.

Will the next book finally conclude the events beyond the Wall? I've sort of waited for that conclusion since book 1:).

This is why I prefer Eriksons books. At least one major plot is concluded with each book which makes waiting for the next easier.

I would imagine the conclusion of events beyond the Wall will be the series climax, book 7...

ADWD seems to be setting up a very messy situation on the Wall: Jon having to deal with being LC of the NW, having to deal with Stannis, Melisandre and the wildlings who are unhappy with his betrayal of Rayder, trying to mould the NW into a better fighting force (as we see in AFFC with Jon training up archers), have to deal with Alliser Thorne and co., and finally having to sort out Cersei's 100 assassins when they turn up.

And of course there's the Others on top of all that ;)

My guess is that ADWD will lay the groundwork for the war with the Others. There's hints in the glossary of AFFC that the ADWD plotline may venture out beyond the Wall (it reveals that the NW members who killed Jeor Mormont are still at Craster's Keep), laying the foundations for further Other machinations. I wouldn't be surprised if the book after ADWD has the showdown with the Others at the Wall. Far messier and more interesting to have the Others invading the North at the same time Dany is invading the South, leaving the final book for the showdown between them.

As far as I'm concerned he could have jumped straight to that showdown part ;). It's what hooked me at least.

Messy? With the Others? Just wait until Daenerys comes flying. Then things will get really messy...

While A feast for Crows continues at the same level of writing as the previous books. I believe it is easily the weakest book of the four. Simply put, nothing happens in this book. Obviously not literally but still, no big events happen in this book. You do learn some interesting bits here and there but for the most part this book has dampened my view of this series. I will of course buy the next book the day it comes out though.

Hey!

I thought that some of you GRRM fans could be interested by this!

To coincide with my GRRM interview which will appear this spring, Bantam Dell were gracious enough to support this little contest of mine by offering a full hardcover set of A Song of Ice and Fire. Which means that the lucky winner will get A Game of Thrones, A Clash of Kings, A Storm of Swords, and A Feast for Crows delivered right to their door! Moreover, each volume is signed by GRRM!!! Many thanks again to Bantam Dell for doing this.

Check the blog for all the details.

I've had A Feast for Crows sitting on the shelf for a while as I was thinking of reading it just before next book came out, but then couple days ago thought I'll start reading it. I forgot GRRM writing style, which is top quality. As I've only read a few chapters yet, can't comment on it yet.

WTF? Well it depends on what you mean by 'nothing'. The following events take place which are pretty major.

BTW, DO NOT HIGHLIGHT if you haven't read AFFC yet or are about to.
