I'm trying to treat this as if we were sitting at a table. Tapper and I are talking to each other and are about to formalize negotiations and Blend is sitting there and says hey I'm not liking how this is going down, how about I give you this instead to not go through with this deal. As it wasn't neither Tapper's or my turn we couldn't formalize the deal anyway. So no my word isn't flexible, I'm just trying to fit an in person game to the limitations of the forum as we are not all on at the same time. Agreeing to the deal on the chatty thread is only the preliminary part of accepting a deal. We both have to post in our action thread that we agree to the deal there as well.

I welcome other people's opinions on this as well.

That would be Blend's call. His offer was 6 trade goods for not going through with our stated deal. If he allows an amended deal to go through then we can talk. And I made a comment regarding Gnaw's response to me backing out of the deal. I really would like to know if what I did in accepting a counter offer is acceptable because of the forum style format? I know even if it's deemed acceptable that I should have waiting for a counter offer before accepting but I really wasn't trying to garner nor expected a counter.

The Transaction system is pretty clear on what (parts of) transactions are binding. If it can be immediately fulfilled, then that part is binding, anything that cannot be, isn't.

As a gentleman's agreement I think this situation could be slightly different.

In that case, we agreed a deal outside of our turn but with my turn coming up and your PN being released and ready for trade: finally all conditions were available to make this a transaction. I am fine with Blend stating he objects to parts of it and you changing your mind entirely or partially as a result.

I offer to re-negotiate that part he objects to, only to find out that ANY deal between you and me is now at the mercy of someone else entirely and their interpretation of what exactly they blocked and what they allow.

I could make a pretty decent argument, considering that he opposed the deal

A. only after I asked if PDS fire was a part of it
B. with a direct quote of that question, that this is the part he objects to.

I am fine with excluding that part and we arrive at our initial agreement of a PN-trade and Non-aggro pact between you and me.

For Blend's sake, the NA-part of the deal is that we specifically agree that your PDS will get to shoot at me if my ships enter Blends systems. Fine, but then I would like you to not trade my Racial PN to Blend.

You get what you want, I get what I want, Blend gets what he wants from you.

And if even if Blend accepts, then what about Khell or Morgoth? What if they protest about your PDSes not firing at me over their systems?

Anyway, let by-gones be by-gones and say you took Blend's offer over mine and the two are mutually exclusive.

And essentially, they are. Because I want to negotiate a 1v1 deal, and not have to have a conference with all potential (real or imagined) stakeholders and buy each one off one at a time.

That is significantly different from 6 TG to not make this deal....
