Hello my British chums.
It's ben a frigging age since I updated anyone about what was happening with my book, for myriad reasons. What's happened with Kharkanas recently has brought me to the realisation that publishers don't seem to like complex or challenging books.
Given that mine falls into the latter content-wise, I've taken the decision to self-publish the damned thing. So it's at least on the way now. I'll come back with a more tangible update later, but for now, I need to proofread the entire manuscript again, make necessary edits, prepare the documents and get her ready to go. I hope to be done within the next 14 days.

Good luck! I'm sure there are people here who would help with the proof-reading and editing aspects.
I edited for law reviews so if you want someone to have a look over and pick it apart for minor errors and stylistic changes I'd be happy to help.
Also, we're not all Brits!

Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Indeed, some of us even oppose Britain on a fundamental, existential level.
That said, if you self-publish an e-book too, I'll buy a copy for sure.

They came with white hands and left with red hands.

I'll buy it also. If Minty Fresh (Tatterdemalion) gets my money, so do you.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

Aha, thanks all.
It's already been proofed over a few years ago. All I'm doing now are final tweaks to ensure it still flows right and to update aspects where needed.

If you self-publish, who is doing your cover artwork?
Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

Count me in as well.

A friend did some for me, which is the profile picture of my Facebook author page. Hannah from this very forum did the map for me as well.

OR, and I'm spit-balling here, we could give Minty Fresh MORE money. It's not so undue a prospect when you think about it.
All the best, Maark. I will also back this. Maybe we can do an exchange when Purge of Ashes is back in action, although I'm not sure I'm ready for such darkness. Sean was going to give me a full edit, but now he has to do his own books over again so I'm out of such luck! Bah. But I learned so much in the years since RPG that my own latest edit has improved a ton, I feel, and all that's left is doing the production right, aka, map & cover.
Have you written any of Book 2 at all?

I'd say about 60% of it, but I haven't worked on it in a while now.

No, but there is a guy getting anally fucked to death with his own frozen, dismembered dick. And he thoroughly deserved it.

That's okay, as long as it stays a bit lighthearted. Like someone mentioning that it looks a bit small and the victim shouting something along the lines of "It is cold, alright?!"

The scene itself is dark as hell (it had to be because it's a comeuppance) but it does become a running gag thereafter.
