Seriously though what's up with this dude? This guys filmography is a cavalcade of absolute insanity mixed with moments of genius. Also I found out just a couple of weeks ago that my girlfriend has never seen a single Nicholas Cage film, how the fuck is that possible? I'm gonna show her Face/Off, Con-Air and The Rock just to make her think she has a handle on him, then finish with Leaving Las Vegas just to leave her reeling lol

P.S. For anyone wondering, yes, this entire thread may have just been a reason to post that video of Abed because I just saw the episode again...

Think that worked, wasn't sure how to add a poll, never done it before.

EDIT: Yes, yes it did.

The iguana scene in Bad Lieutenant should clinch in everybody's opinion that Cage is amazing.

He's done some terrible movies, but he's always fun to watch.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

You know what, and from previous occasions on which I've said this I assume it will be an unpopular opinion, I don't like Raising Arizona, I don't find it interesting, never have. And I've watched it all the way through 3 times with different people who insisted it was great.

EDIT: Yeah it's like he just ramps up the insanity level when he knows it's a bad movie, he never sleeps through a movie. Bad Lieutenant's the one where he takes so much coke that he see's a recently deceased dude's soul breakdancing as it leaves his body, right? lol

Used to be hit and miss, and then started having to make movies to pay taxes.

Tatts early in SH game: Hmm, so if I'm liberal I should have voted Nein to make sure I'm president? I'm not that selfish

Tatts later in SAME game: I'm going to be a corrupt official. I have turned from my liberal ways, and now will vote against the pesky liberals. Viva la Fascism.
When Venge's turn comes, he will get a yes from Mess, Dolmen, Nevyn and Venge but a no from the 3 fascists and me. **** with my Government, and i'll **** with yours

Lol, I knew it would be an unpopular opinion, but come on the penis insult's a little far, non? :D

I dunno I just don't get it, it's been awhile since I saw it but like I said I've seen it 3 times, so I doubt my opinion would change if I were to watch it again. It's just one of those films that everyone I know seems to love and I just don't, everyone has at least one of those. It's kinda the same with that awful film Napoleon Dynamite (off topic sort of I know), most people I know seem to think it's great, I find it to be one of the most boring things I've ever sat through personally.

But yeah back on topic, I agree with Nevyn, he was always hit and miss, but certainly seems at least to have had to take on more and more out there projects. No idea if this is a money issue, I guess maybe he just loves crazy arse movies that let him go mental, but who knows. For me his best film - at least in terms of personal performance - is undoubtedly Leaving Las Vegas, but frankly the idea of sitting through that movie again is not appealing, it really makes for harrowing viewing!

Personally I'm of the impression that the best Cage performance is, in fact, Abed's impression above.

"That was brilliant", indeed. XD

So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

I've always enjoyed Nicolas Cage. Even when he stars in a crap film, he's fun to watch. Much like Tom Cruise, most of the time it just feels like you're watching Nicolas Cage being Nicolas Cage, but the great thing is that you never know if you're going to get sombre Cage or loud Cage.

I think he should transition from those terrible leading roles he's getting too old for, to better supporting roles. I think that Cage could do wonders for a film if you didn't make his name have to carry the straight to DVD trash they're producing. I also suspect he'd do amazingly if somebody like HBO made a show for him. He has the charisma to carry as a front runner.

As for favorite film, I loved him in Kiss of Death where he plays some coked up body builder who's connected to the mob and beats some guy to a pulp with his bare hands. That was a crazy film.

Gone in 60 seconds is one of my favorite films.
