So its clear that you don't understand how the gaming industry works.

While I'm not saying Anthem is going to be good, I'm saying writers helping write then going to different projects, in fact lots of people that work on games work for a couple years to get through, then their contracts are up, and they try and find different work.

This doesn't mean the game/studio/whatever is dying. It means shitty ass youtubers that also don't know anything about how those industries work make videos like this.

Also, "Bioware" is something really amorphous within EA these days. EA went through a phase where they re-named almost every studio they owned "Bioware something" to cash in on the brand.

The original, "core" Bioware (without the Dr's) is Bioware Edmonton. Bioware LA is (iirc), former Victory Games, who were RTS people that did the last few Command & Conquer games and we're supposedly making the (canceled) C&C Generals 2.

Bioware Montreal is a subsidiary studio (pretty much every big publisher has a studio in Montreal, b/c favorable tax practices, I believe).

I don't remember off the top of my head where the Visceral people ended up when that studio was shut down last year when EA canceled their Star Wars project.

I have 0 interest in Anthem, since I don't do any type of multi-player. On the other hand, EA sports is a juggernaut that means EA will never die, even if they milk the games Dice makes into oblivion. So it'll be very curious to see if EA manages to get itself out of its current creative rut when it comes to single-player games that I like, or if they'll continue to spiral somewhere on the periphery of my attention.

100% boycotting this title due to the mess that was Andromeda. They wrecked my beloved IP and left it to die and I am childishly salty about it, and this was announced right about the time they stated that they're shutting down any further work on Andromeda (which might actually be a good thing, keeps me from getting my hopes up again!).

I know I'm not adding anything to the discussion, I just wanted to share.

Hey, you do you. If you aren't happy with a meal or the service at a restaurant you don't have to apologize for not eating there again.

Then again on the other hand I tend to look at games on a case by case basis. Years go by between projects, directors and studio leads are replaced, management changes their vision for the future of the company, etc. One bad game or even a string of them won't make me boycot anything. Games are entertainment, I don't take them overly serious in that way.

I am not happy, but it does give me more time to get caught up in the series.

Looks like for the next 2 years EA is giving me no reason to give them money. That's probably a good thing.

I was half expecting that. Another beloved franchise on the chopping block for some reason. Inquisition already had a lot of problems, I'm still hopeful that they won't abandon or completely cock up the series - I'm way too interested in the Maker/Blight lore to just shrug this off :p

I agree that that extended play made it look a lot better than what was shown at E3, which makes it all the more confusing as to why they didn't show this.

The way the abilities synergise and the fact that there seem to be proper differences between the classes (and sub-classes, like the approach of the two Colossi on the team) is encouraging (unlike in Destiny). The explosions and effects were also all suitably bombastic and cool.

So yeah, cautious optimism.

Since I'd only be playing it solo, I envision this to be worth buying @ an Origin sale for 15 CAD.

Game Informer posted a Q&A with the project lead, and he said the game's core loop is comparable to Diablo, but with all the traditional "Bioware bits" still kind of there, to be expereinced outside of combat.

I'm kinda mildly interested, but probably a few years down the line.

The loot mechanics are what the dev was referring to-the gameplay loop is supposed to be like an action RPG.

The comparison to Diablo is understandable since Borderlands (which inspired Destiny, which inspired Anthem) started out as "Diablo with guns".

If it's like Borderlands but a bit more serious, fine.

But I haven't got faith that it's not going to be a shallow lootbox hell because that's what EA does nowadays.

I'm really not all that excited or hyped for this. Looks like it's implementing decision/consequence trees. Doubt it has any meaningful impact on the campaign. We'll see I guess.
