Are you saying that vamp leader has off-thread comms with recruits? I don't recall a faction game where that was a case. So this is exactly the same.

I'm saying that vamp leader doesn't have to put in same target as his fledlings in order to effectively target someone. I'm saying that T&M had a motivation to kill each other beyond distancing, whether they were in a convo is irrelevant to this point.

I don't know anything about last game. I suppose my continued avoidance of looking into it isn't helping me now, so I suppose I should break down and finally check it out.

My conclusions are based on what I can infer from my own role. Therefore, I have little to say about recruitment dynamics, but if Drusilla and Spike were the top dogs, then I'd say they were killer and replacement killer, and that Ment was either a recruiter or a recruit.
