As they corner him, the lynch rope ready to bear his weight, the room is filled with sudden unnatural darkness. A shot fires from unsteady hands at the sudden provocation. The scents of smoke and blood permeate the room. When the darkness lifts, two bodies lay amidst the crowd.

Silchas Ruin has been killed. He was innocent and the channeller.
Rashan has been killed. He was innocent.
