I don't know why you are jumping on their death pronouncements immediately when this show makes it a point to have the named characters get onscreen endings.

Because it's ridiculous for anyone to have survived that.

That you can say this ^^ with a straight face as a die-hard WoT fan...is fairly amusing.

Bottom line in ANY visual media. 99.9% of the time if you didn't see them die on screen... They didn't die. And in this case, Amph is spot on correct, the entire reason to show the progression scene of the wildling falling in the collapsed section of the wall while Tormund and Beric watch...is to demonstrate they surived it. Visual storyteling 101. You don't have to like it though, I suppose.

As to the rest of the ep, it turns out I was only slightly off in my prediciton Re: Jaimie. He went against Cersei (AND called her bluff...awesome) and after seeing the threat the White Walkers and Wights represent, he's gone north to either gather loyal men or just offer himself as help/commander in the war against the WW. I WISH he'd have found a way to end his stupid sister...who really is dim as fuck at this point ("I want to protect my baby!...but I can't step over my stupid fucking pride long enough to realize what the real threat is" apparently)...but I'm okay if it doesn't happen quite yet. It just nice to know that Jaimie's story IS the one of redeemed hero...as is possibly Theon's it turns out. Redemption stories are my fave.

As to LF's death. You know what, I said it befroe. The sisters were pulling the wool over his eyes to let him hang himself, and he did. End of. Arya made it quick. I liked it. His death has been coming for a long ass time now. I'm glad he's over.

The wall falling was pretty cool. I guess my only question is that if MOST of the wall is still unmanned...why break through at Eastwatch and not some other random point?

Jon being an Aegon is fine. I see no reason why not reuse a name that's already been used in the past. It's not like anyone is going to call him Aegon much who knows him intimately.

Also, can Theon be called Theon the Cockless now as his like "pirate name"? Because that scene was funny, and I can't imagine that his men (or rather Yara's men) don't utlize it in some way.

Good ep. But as is usual in GoT they spent their load in the penutlimate ep of the season, and this on was largely setup for the begnning of the next season.

Overall, I liked it a lot.

In the case of Snow and Daenerys, they can't have children, so you don't even have to worry about their offspring.

Did an ob/gyn tell her this? Cuz otherwise I don't think it's a given.

And I feel like Worry's point is furthered by Jon's "Who told you this?" "The witch who..." "don't you think maybe they aren't the best judge" convo. There is really no other point to that conversation from a narrative standpoint.

Hardhome is even further east than Eastwatch. I think it's just a straightest path type of thing.

I wonder if season 8 finally sees Howland Reed. The only logical location to add to the intro would be Greywater Watch, and it's as good a point as any for a stand against the dead (I'm kinda assuming the North is devastated and the war moves gradually southward). I know he's not "needed" by the plot, w/ Sam & Bran together, but he is the only living firsthand witness. Plus, I mean, why not? Give us what we want.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

If the unsullied were free to March (what did they eat) I don't understand this truce nonsense. 2 dragons. The unsullied and the dothraki and in theory she should be able to still get dorne or some westerosi to come to her side as well she could have sacked kings landing in a weekend and marshalled from there.

Also 1 million people in kings landing? Where did they thumb suck this number. It seems very wrong and way too high.

What would they eat if they didn't march? What would they eat on dragonstone?

In fact, after Drogon burned the harvest, what is anyone eating right now?

The only difference between marching and staying at the Rock is whether you can protect a supply train while marching.

Well they arrived at catserly rock by boat, presumably they brought provisions. The brilliance of Haines scheme was he allowed the rock to be taken but left almost no supplies in the castle and they iron fleet sunk their fleet leaving them stranded at the rock supposedly low on supplies.

They would have to March to kings landing either through the reach which supposedly should be stripped bare or through the river lands. Anyway my point is just for them to arrive at kings landing no worse for ware makes the whole plot Jaime made and the ensuing tension kinda seem pointless. Missandrei was worried, we had no word etc and dive minutes later they are assembled outside kings landing. Hell they don't know the land, they don't speak the language. Did they have a master? Could they send ravens.
As someone said earlier, tension in the story is created by us understanding the rules and understanding why the situation they are stuck in is dangerous. They ignored it when convenient.

Did they pillage for supplies? Would this anger local lords? We're their skirmishes? Did the lannister army not leave a garrison at high garden? Do they not xontrol the riverlands? I can't say, I theory they do in practice I imagine their gold is weak.

The Director Podeswa on the scene with Ice Dragon Viserion brining down the wall.

"That was really helpful to figure what the flames should look like, what color they should be,"

Looks like it was blue fire and not ice of any kind, and not exactly just "magic" either...even though I'm sure there is magic to it...it was blue fire.

Do you guys think that Cersei let Tyrion live after their personal meeting because Tyrion expressed authentic love for her children? And this sentiment was magnified by the fact that Cersei is preggers and so her heart melted a bit and she let him live? Also, to extrapolate from that is the theory that Tyrion, with the revelation the Cersei is preggers, struck a deal with her, promising that her unborn child would claim the Iron Throne, with the expectations that Dany would die in the upcoming war with the army of the dead. What do you "experts" think? I welcome (and respect) every and all opinions on the matter. Thanks in advance.

Also, as I posted earlier, this has been the season of reunions. So, I guess The Hound and Arya still need to greet one another. But most importantly, when is Sansa going to be reunited with lemon cakes. DAMMIT!

No. Cersei let Tyrion live because killing him would mean death by dragon right after.

Yeah, but I'm not so sure about that, because Cersei expressed her feelings that (by her logic) the dragons are not as puissant as commonly believed because Dany only came with Drogon and Rhaegal to the peace summit, believing that Viserion was killed, even though she has no proof of Viserion's death. And even with Jamie making the case that Viserion could have been guarding some ships or stronghold or something.

Also, Cersei hasn't seen them in action and doesn't exactly trust Jaime's description on how efficacious Drogon was during the battle of the suppl train.

I actually do kind of buy the Tyrion-struck-a-deal theory as at least plausible. I don't think Cersei has softened at all but Tyrion has been a Lannister all of his life, and these last few years haven't necessarily destroyed his lifelong loyalties, particularly if there's another Lannister baby on the horizon. I'd expect the show to do such a thing in a fairly ham-handed way, whereas GRRM would lay all the groundwork (the "Lion" betrayal prophecy is already there, for one -- and can still be Cersei of course).
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Yep, going back to season 1 or 2 when Dany wasin that weird house where she was told about betrayals that would happen to her. Isn't there still a betrayal yet to happen?

Cersei let Tyrion live because she was planning from the get go to let him 'talk her into' uniting to fight the dead.

Plan doesn't work if you kill Tyrion.

Cersei brought up the three dragons because she was pointing out that the other sides can plot too - which means that what she does is "normal" and justified. At least, that's what the scene suggested.

I do think some kind of deal was struck, but I don't think it matters all that much since I believe both Tyrion and Cersei don't actually mean to carry out anything beyond a truce.

Also, isn't Daario with the Golden Company?

Oh man! I forgot how in ADWD there were so many mercenary companies that Grrrr! Martin was juggling that it was hard to keep track of who was a member of what group. But one take away I did leave the books with is that The Golden Company were BAAAAAAAAAADASSES!

But yeah, mark my words, Hodor (I shall call him "Coldor" henceforth) will make an appearance in the final season.
