That battle was quite something... I would have thought that Dany would have preferred capturing the crops as opposed to destroying them though.

I thought the same thing. And it looked to me like they could have won that battle with the Dothraki alone; the dragon seemed excessive.

I wonder if Jaime is going to be one of the people to whom Dany is issuing the ultimatum in the preview. Probably not, though. He'll probably get away somehow.

I thought Jon had made it back to Winterfell somehow since he was talking about Bran, but apparently he only got a raven, or something. He's still at Dragonstone when he's talking about it; they're in the map-table room and Varys and Dany are there.

Can't wait for that scene with Jon and the dragon.

I also thought it made no sense to torch all the wagonloads of supplies. I was practically shouting at the tv while it was happening to save it and take it. ESPECIALLY considering Dany herself at some point in the ep laments about the fact that she's lost the grain stores she was to have gotten from Highgarden. Well, there a lot of it was and she torched it all.

In my opinion, if Dany gets a dragon killed after being taught in her very first battle that the enemy has a weapon that is at least a threat to them, it will be horrifically stupid. The only reason Drogon took the hit he did was because he came straight in at that weapon. The simple solution is don't take 100% direct lines at a target going forward. Evasive action while on offense, essentially. Hitting a moving target with that scorpion should be incredibly difficult under those circumstances. Maybe if you have 7 to 10 of them working at the same time.

Why is Theon still breathing? His fellow Iron Islanders know he must've gone coward to still be alive, one of them says as much. Are they that unsure of themselves that they think they need his royal blood/name to go on? I got the impression Iron Islanders weren't that way. It would be nice to know how much of his story Dany knows. She may have lost some allies but putting any faith or assets in his hands is a complete waste. And he wants to go try to get Yarra back?! Please! That doesn't help Dany's cause at all, if you ask me.

Aside from those quibbles it was an exciting episode. Can't wait to see: does Jaime (and Bronn?) get plucked from the water by Dany/her people or his own?

Maybe it will be Dickon. The show's approach with him is interesting. He seems like a nice enough kid.

I did consider Dickon is the one that saved Jaime, not Bronn. Dickon has already saved Jaime's ass once.

Also, forgot to mention: I love Arya SO MUCH. By far my favorite character through the 3 books I've read and the show as well. I'm torn about the sparring scene. On one hand, I agree with Traveller: don't show a possible opponent anything you don't have to. And Arya knows Littlefinger cannot be trusted. But on the other hand: I believe she sent a strong message to Littlefinger: her family is not to be betrayed any longer, they have the means to strike. Seeing her in action appeared to give him pause and it should have. Plus, he surely has gotten reports from the Twins and the Frey massacre. This may be the most apprehensive he's been for the whole show.

I thought Littlefinger looked put off because Arya was wielding the dagger he gifted Bran.

Great episode. I mean, they've gone absolutely insane with the teleporting and the dialogue has really dipped (I youtubed the 'chaos is a ladder' scene which was referenced, and they just don't talk like that anymore), but that was a wonderfully watchable hour nonetheless.

Jaime and the Dragon. Not quite like in fairytales. And we spent that entire battle chanting "please don't let Bronn die!"
"I think I've made a terrible error of judgement."

It's Valyrian steel. I expect she'll kill a White Walker or two with it.

For sure. I think it's a extra special one though. I don't think Bran said who's it was but he asked the girls if they knew who it was. I'm just convinced it is even more so because of that and cause it was in the book Sam had. I think it's a key to something though. Possibly the key to killing the Night King himself.. like maybe not any ole Val will put him down permantly or it is required to gain entry to something under Dragonstone that will led to his ultimate defeat.

Now THAT is a premise I find interesting; that dagger and the Night King. What would be the reason for that one in particular? But if Arya took him out with that dagger using Faceless Man technique?! I think I would swoon!

I wonder if the fact that Bran gave that dagger to Arya is significant and maybe lends credence to DS/BK's theory? Considering what Bran is now, a seer, does he have foresight enough to know she should have it for some future purpose?

Arya should faceless man herself as a White Walker. Then just walk up to the Night King: "oh hey bro, how's it going? Yeah, yeah wall's coming down, smashing, 's'all cool, 's'all cool" stab stab stab!

She can't faceless man a White Walker cuz she hasn't killed any White Walker and taken its face. And they seem to burst when you kill them, so I doubt it's possible at all.

So, on another forum, there is discussion that Bran has been warging Littlefinger. The evidence that he has been doing this, is the similarity between Littlefinger's words and Bran's words to Sansa and then the "chaos is a ladder" quote that Bran says when talking to Littlefinger in this latest episode. Which Littlefinger himself says back in season 3.

I'm not sure how I feel about this theory. I was under the impression only simple minded humans could be warged into (i.e. Hodor). Anyway, it's an interesting proposition though and maybe why Littlefinger is still alive. He is serving as a fount of knowledge about things for Bran to help prepare for the battles to come.

If he was warging Littlefinger he'd be insensate with his eyes rolled back.

True, but the theories posited at this other forum is 1) Bran has warged him off screen or 2) The eyes rolled back is an apprentice mannerism. Bran has leveled up to adept and so can do these things without much effort and is why he seems so space cadet creepy all the time.

I'm pretty sure it's all just as straight forward as Bran can see pretty much anything at any time.

My thought with the dagger was just that I'm not sure if the show has yet revealed that it was definitely Hoffrey that sent the hired killer to kill the cripple? It's sometimes hard to keep straight who should know what in which medium?

I'm also not buying that jon drew the white walkers in the cave. Does not seem his style. We know they did fight white walkers together. Also makes sense to show white walkers near the weapon that kills them.

Wait? Joffrey sent the killer? How, why?

I barely remember the beginning of the series now but the killer was sent before Joffrey became king, wasn't he? Even if not, why would Joffrey send the killer and not Cersei?

This was spelled out more clearly in the books. He seems to have been influenced by his mother's comment that it would be a mercy for him to die. I don't remember the details, but the dagger was supposed to have been in Robert's armory somewhere, and that's where Joffrey got it from.

Hmm. This still sounds weird. Why would Cersei task her spoiled idiot son with hiring a hitman, when she could use her own contacts and insure there was one less fail point in the chain of scheming?

Maybe she half wanted it to fail, thus creating a rift that might see her husband killed? I guess maybe she just wanted to make sure the suspicion wouldn't fall back on her and reveal her sins?

She didn't task him with it. Joffrey was just influenced by her comments, and decided to do it on his own, because he's an evil little shit.
