I see why you would think so. Why give Lord Friend Zone Griff's greyscale unless you need someone cured of it for the story.

But it is not the best fit. Griff and Jorah have very different roles in the story, so it would need to be the greyscale itself, and not the character, who mattered.

And that implies that Sam is going to screw up and get it, or something to do with having it or curing it is going to be needed in the war vs the night king. Plus, as Terez said, they'd have to invent a reason.

For now I'll assume they gave Jorah greyscale for its own plot purposes different from the books.

I'd be very disappointed if Jorah is cured after the procedure, simple as that. But I wouldn't be totally surprised.

Sam is going to cut off an entire layer of skin from half his upper body and face, and then cauterize it from the look of things.

Heh.... Simple.

Hey, everything that used to take 6 chapters in the books is now happening over an episode. So massive fleet building, ravens flying, people travelling and curing greyscale are all compressed down as far as it will go to fit it all on screen. I guess.

Eurons fleet - doesn't have to be the best or have the higher numbers; they took advantage of the dark and totally blindsided a fleet that clearly thought it was unassailable. Kind of satisfying watching Dorne being wrapped up.

I like the Nymeria scene. It may have been the wine but that was how it should have gone down - mutual recognition, no attack, then going their separate ways. Maybe she'll return, I hope so but it was still good.

Littlefinger is not someone to piss off and leave in your castle while you're away. Kill him or cement alliance - no in between there. Jon should have finished him then and there under Neds statue.

I liked a proper look at the Dragon hall of skulls. But where are Danys while she decides what to do? Not sitting at Dragonstone - really they'd probably be inland already looking for lunch.

So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Was the Nymeria scene just mutual recognition? I took it as rejection. Arya is now "no one" -- Nymeria recognizes her, but departs because she also recognizes Arya has "lost" herself. I think ultimately, now that things are coming to a close, the dire wolves are going to become more symbolic...in other words, Sansa & Bran are not going to survive, Jon & Arya will.

Also, I loved Theon chickening out. It was both organic and surprising.

The way it was explained by the showrunners is that like Arya, Numeria is wild. So becoming Arya's pet again just isn't her.

So not a rejection due to abandonment or being "no one". Just recognition, but unwillingness to follow.

But is it? I mean, all the presumed leaders are gone (along with the two most annoying sand snakes) so who knows who will rule there, but they were going to "pick up" the dornish army. Which implies there still IS a Dornish army.

The beauty of Littlefinger is it does not matter whether you piss him off or not. He was in all likelihood plotting against Jon already. You can't cement an alliance with Littlefinger.

Why not? By my recollection, the original Targaryen dragons spent quite a bit of time there before Aegon began his conquest.

But I mean here's a guy with no medical experience, potentially doing what no maester has successfully done before.

A Maester HAS done it before.

And from what he is actually doing, the procedure is actually really easy. Just gross and carries a high risk you will infect yourself. Cut off dead skin and rub on ointment is not a complicated medical procedure.

Ah, I suppose I can see that reading. As time goes by though I'm less and less inclined to care what Weiss & Benioff have to say about the material.

I thought they said the guy died when they tried this procedure before?

Sam said he had found 2 cases where it had been cured, by a specific Maester.

The Arch Maester then told him the guy who cured those patients himself died of grayscale. The implication was that he contracted it while treating them, not that it didn't work.

Yeah, the maester died, not the patient. Sam did say the treatment was successful.

I have a theory: Theon is gonna float there in the water until a small rowboat approaches him, and who's inside? Gendry! Still making his way from Dragonstone all these months later.

The stupid thing is that Yara's fleet was supposed to be better than Euron's. He even said it last episode.

Um, no.

She took the best boats in the existing fleet, and sailed all the way to Mereen and back. In the meantime, he built his 1000 ship fleet, and he sells his fleet to Cersei as the tits.

Using what lumber? The iron isles are mostly tree free.

It doesn't make sense, but hey, at least we got Euron's killing off of some of the dumbest characters in the show (the Dornish sisters).
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

I don't recall a reaction to her that was any different from the two sisters. They were all awful characters.

I stumbled across an interesting article this morning that I thought I'd share with you guys. It poses the question "Why do we still root for Arya?". Her story has essentially turned her into a psychopath anti-hero that enjoys killing and basks in the glory of the vengeance of bloody, painful revenge. Don't get me wrong, I still love the character, but I thought the article was actually well thought out and raised some strong points.

Why do we root for Arya?

Plainly put, I just like Arya's storyline. I couldn't wait when we new Sansa was close enough to the Wall that she would get to reunite with Jon after so long. It was almost enough to cause a tear when they finally hugged.

My point from above is that Jon and Arya had a much better relationship, and I really can't wait for Arya to reunite with Jon. I can see him saying something like, " I guess you learned to stick them with the pointy end."

I also would like for Arya to run into The Hound on her way up. I think The Hound and The Mountain still have a fight coming.

I find it highly likely that Jon and Dany will end ep 3 staring at each other and having to wait till 4 to see the conversation.

I was very nervous about a certain Sand to. I now hope to see a reunion with Bronn. That was about the only good thing to come out of S5 Dorne side quest.

Funny, the wife and I said the same.

Yes, I would love to have Bronn back on screen.

THEON/YARA/SANDSNAKES/EURON - wow that went bad quickly. Cool fight. Ignore all the logistics and plot holes and whatever, that was a fucking INSANE sequence. Will be interesting to see where this takes Theon and how badly Dany and Tyrion's plan is screwed. Two Sandsnakes absolutely died fighting Euron, but was the third captured with Ella or also die?

Bad Pussy was captured with Ellaria and Yara. Just the boring ones died.

Wonder if Bronn is going to save her? Lol.

I think the Sand Snakes are a delight in the books. I think they died to easily on screen. They are supposed to be far more lethal than they were in that fight scene. I'd have liked to see them all cut down 20+ men each before finally succumbing to greater numbers.

I also think Yara should have kicked Euron's ass.

Well, I mean, lances and whips aren't ideal weapons for a surprise naval battle. And they did fine against Euron, who we can assume is a solid fighter too.

Besides, the Dorne story was so poorly received on the show that they likely wanted to kill them off as quickly as possible. No point making them finally cool the moment you kill them, and screen time is now at a premium.
