'Florida "deplatforming" ["Anti-Censorship" / "Free Speech"] law put on hold by federal judge citing First Amendment concerns

[...] the controversial Florida law seeking to impose penalties on social media companies when they ban political candidates from using their platforms.

[...] the "de-platforming" law appears to be a violation of the First Amendment as it likely "violates the free speech rights of the tech companies, which under the First Amendment are generally free to decide what to publish without government interference," [...]

In reference to the broad scope of the measure, [judge] Hinkle also noted: "Like prior First Amendment restrictions, this is an instance of burning the house to roast a pig."'

'Xi Warns China's Foreign "Bullies" Will Have Their "Heads Bashed Bloody"

[...] The Chinese president delivered a furious speech to thousands of people in Beijing [...] "The Chinese people have never bullied, oppressed, or enslaved the people of other countries... At the same time, the Chinese people will never allow any foreign forces to bully, oppress, or enslave us. Anyone who dares try to do that will have their heads bashed bloody against a Great Wall of steel forged by over 1.4 billion Chinese people." [...] "heads bashed bloody" quickly became a trending topic on Weibo, which is a rough Chinese equivalent to Twitter.'

Take that Joe Biden! Get 'em Xi! Bash Biden's head into Trump's! Then bash both their heads through the Big Wall of Trumpland....

'Trump Team Launches New Social Media Platform With Horrendously Bad Name

Trump and his old spokesman Jason Miller both have questionable records when it comes to their treatment of women. But somehow Miller and members of Trump's inner circle didn't think that naming their new social media platform GETTR—just say it out loud—would be too on the nose. According to Politico, GETTR was quietly launched recently by Miller, who has pitched it as a bias-free, anti-cancel culture alternative [...]

Miller has been accused of having an affair with an aide then refusing to pay child support when she fell pregnant. He also filed a $100 million lawsuit over a story that alleged he drugged a woman and caused her to miscarry. His old boss, famous for saying "grab 'em by the pussy," has been accused of sexual misconduct by at least 18 women.'

https://www.thedaily...-platform-gettr

As in short for 'get her'.... get 'er! Get 'er done!

'[GETTR] Is Bankrolled by Fugitive Chinese Billionaire

[...] Guo had come up with the idea for Gettr's logo, a torch.
"This logo of Gettr is his idea, representing that Gettr will ignite the hope of mankind and the spirit of the Olympic games,"'

https://www.thedaily...ese-billionaire

'QAnon followers are angry that [GETTR] is allowing users to mock them and post porn "and bad words and stuff."

[...]

The app, which is full of privacy and security bugs, is positioning itself as the latest social network to be the last bastion of free speech [...]

But that defense of free speech doesn't extend to pornography or "bad words."

[...]

Unfortunately, whatever protections the site has in place to filter out such content aren't working right now, and as a result, one of GETTR's biggest potential user bases has sworn off the platform after it was flooded with porn and "bad words."

[...] another major QAnon influencer, was also disgusted by the presence of "titties and bad words and stuff."'

'Star Trek Icon Hosts Kremlin TV Show—& Rages Against Critics

[...] the 90-year-old Canadian actor—known for taking on the legendary role Captain James Kirk

[...]announced he would be hosting a new general talk show on the American branch of RT called "I Don't Understand," [...]

[...] "Don't go on RT, unless you are okay with sharing a mic with some of the most vile racist degenerates out there. It's not a legitimate media platform. It has no redeeming qualities. And if no other platform will have you, then you really shouldn't have *any* platform."

[...] network's editor-in-chief, [...] infamous propagandist tweeted: "Captain Kirk went over to the good side."'

GRABBR would have been more appropriate.

Also, does the Shat know he's now basically working with the old-school Klingons?

'Most us have encountered the old trope where a girl starts down a staircase, usually in the dark, unsure of what she’ll find. It’s an old strain of horror that relied on suspense. It had other elements too: If there were monsters, for instance, they were generally understood as things to be avoided. Characters went to some trouble to flee, and audiences rooted for them, knowing they were trying their best.

But genres change. Horror these days is different: It consists of (for example) watching people—specifically, Democratic politicians—march knowingly, slowly, and fully informed of what awaits them and their voters, into civic annihilation.

[...] Republican politicians, and I give them credit for this, could not have been clearer. They’ve switched on every light in the old basement and painted signs that say, “Here is what we plan to do to you, hello!” They’re playing the trumpet in hi-vis vests at the bottom of the stairs. Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema are marching down that staircase anyway. And we’re not just watching; they’re dragging us down there with them.

Let this be a comfort: They are nattily dressed.

[...] Horror shouldn’t be boring either, but it is boring, dreadfully so, to watch yet another instance of Democrats failing to meet the moment, particularly since the moments that matter are running out. It’s the repetitive strain, I think, compounded by the fact that impotence is no longer an excuse. [...]

[...] Manchin and Sinema, unlike the poor girl on the stairs, aren’t just perfectly informed about what’s down there; they’re also armed with the power to stop it. The twist, such as it is, is that they’ve decided not to use it. And so the horror film contains a comedy of sorts within it in which we, the spectators, become the punchline. Unaware we’re the joke, we wishfully treat these two as “undecided” even though they’ve both made their decisions clear[...]

Ah well. We’re stuck in the theater, and hope is the fetid air we breathe. [...]

[...] we’re tired of watching the movie we’re also in. The suspense is killing us, except that it is also boring us—so much that many of us are tuning out. What else is there to do here, stuck on the steps.'

'Trump was talking to his chief of staff John Kelly on a [...] visit to Europe to mark the centenary of the end of the first world war. [...] Kelly was trying to teach Trump about the history of the conflict and he “connected the dots from the first world war to the second world war and all of Hitler’s atrocities.” Trump is said to have responded: “Well, Hitler did a lot of good things.”

So I guess some new insight has come out about that time Trump hid in White House bunker. He wasn't at all happy about that being leaked. #BunkerBitch

Was listening to a break down of the weekly news. One segment talked about Olivia Rodrigo making an appearance at the White House with the message to teenagers about the importance of getting vaccinated. The discussion then talked about which "influencers" could break Trumpist, anti-vaxxers stubbornness about the vaccines and encourage them to get the jab. Of course the most obvious candidate the discussion settled on is Trump himself. But I think there is another hero that is being overlooked. This is the hero we need to get Qarens and Qwevins to roll up their sleeves. Put that passion behind a pro-vaccine message and they will line up.

'MAGA World's "Freedom Phone" Actually Budget Chinese Phone

The pro-Trump internet went wild on Wednesday for the Freedom Phone, a $500 smartphone that comes stocked with conservative apps and promises to liberate anyone else who buys it from Silicon Valley censorship. The American flag-branded phone was immediately promoted by a wide range of right-wing figures, including former Trump adviser Roger Stone, Jan. 6 rally organizer Ali Alexander, and pundit Dinesh D'Souza.

"I'm holding a freaking phone that is not controlled by Apple or Google," conservative personality Candace Owens told her fans in an Instagram video. "We made the switch immediately."

[...] the Freedom Phone appears to be merely a more expensive rebranding of a budget Chinese phone available elsewhere for a fraction of the Freedom Phone's price.

[...] the "Umidigi A9 Pro," made by the Chinese tech company Umidigi. [...] confirmed that the Freedom Phone was manufactured by Umidigi [...]

[...] claimed that the Freedom Phone is manufactured in Hong Kong.

"Nothing's manufactured itself in mainland China," [...]

It's not clear why a handful of free apps, all of which are currently available in the Google Play app store for other Android devices, would justify the price increase over the Umidigi. [...]

[...] the Freedom Phone's "Freedom OS" operating system is based on Google's Android operating system[...] But during a livestream video promoting the phone, right-wing activist Anna Khait was confused by her fans' basic questions about the phone.

"Is it an Android?" Khait said. "I'm not really sure. No, it's a Freedom Phone."

Many of the Freedom Phone's prominent endorsers urged their followers to use a promo code to buy the phone[...] Each referred sale results in a $50 payment to the influencer who endorsed the phone, according to a website explaining Freedom Phone's "promoters" program.'

Yeah, a quick search will tell you this phone is BS.

https://www.gizmodo....d-at-all-costs/

Apparently this one (linked in the above article) is a better privacy option phone (Linux based).

https://www.pine64.org/pinephone/

But then again I only went one-search in, not exactly a deep dive.

EDIT: there's also a Nokia-descendant "Jolla" phone and/or OS called "Sailfish" which apparently is all about privacy. Again, I didn't do a deep dive, but apparently the OS at least is still around into it's 4th generation and has some Android phone compatibility.

So basically, the people who have been conned time and time again are being conned in a new way and continuing to worship the people conning them? What little sympathy I had left for these deluded morons is well and truly gone.

Jeff Bezos is the most reptilian of billionaires. His heart has never shown evidence of a drop of warm blood. Despite all of the public relations that money can buy, his discomfort with normal human emotion shines through every time he is forced to contort his face into a squinting, uncomfortable smile. 'Hannity: "I Never Told Anyone to Get a Vaccine!"

"I am not a medical doctor. I know nothing about your medical history or your current medical condition. I think it's inappropriate for me to do so. Instead, for over a year now I have been warning my viewers, you make my career possible."
While Hannity's lack of medical credentials apparently prevents him from urging people to get a vaccine, it hasn't stopped him from regularly diagnosing President Joe Biden from afar with dementia and cognitive mental decline. In fact, just before this segment, Hannity and his panel openly speculated that Biden "will either resign from office in the near future for medical issues or they will have to use the 25th amendment to get rid" of him.'

'Far-right Fox host Tucker Carlson called [vaccine] passes "medical Jim Crow," claiming these businesses were participating in "segregation." Fellow conservative Fox host Laura Ingraham characterized them as "medical surveillance" that would "never stop chipping away at your liberty and your privacy." Yet another Fox host, Steve Hilton, described them as "Orwellian." Fox contributor and conspiracy theorist Naomi Wolf even called them "the end of human liberty in the west".

But though the network has collectively devoted hours of airtime to the terror of verifying someone is vaccinated, it turns out Fox itself has implemented vaccine passports.'
