My only complaint with Williams is his always taking his stories underground at various pts. Freaks me out. He's a very fun author though.

Why do you hate the underground BK?

Also Shogun is on my purchase list. Lets see if I can get it next month

Wasn't it compulsory for every fantasy author of the 80s and 90s to at some point take their story underground as a homage to the Mines of Moria?

Even Gene Wolfe did it at one point FFS

Speaking of sexy covers, I ordered a copy of Donaldson's The Gap Into Conflict: The Real Story from a random used seller on Amazon for like 5$. It ended up being a hardback first edition with this jacket (not my photo — mine is not mint condition)!

I hope I like it because I'd love to display the art after I read it.

The new ones from Penguin with forewords by Neil Gaiman? Those are great typography covers.

Oh wow that is a beautiful cover!

Incidentally how has your experience been with used sellers on Amazon?

I've only just started buying used books en masse in the past few weeks, so I can't give you a good perspective. However, in those past few weeks, I've ordered ~8 used books (they're so damn cheap! 4$ total for most of them!) and haven't had any issues. The condition of the books has been as promised or better.

I decided to start getting used instead of new because more and more books are ~10$ for paperbacks these days. My addiction can't support that.

Do you think used book sellers have to be vetted by Amazon?

They're not vetted per se, as far as I know. You can sign up right now to become a seller w/ your basic info and banking #s. There's a difference between individual sellers (Amazon takes a cut of each sale) and professional sellers (it's a 39.99 fee, but they don't skim off each sale). I think it largely relies on customer feedback, like ebay does, but there are definitely guidelines you can get punished for breaking.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

I haven't had any issues with Amazon used book sellers that I recall. Shoot, you go to AbeBooks or eBay or Amazon or HPB, and it's almost all the same listings by the same sellers.

May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"

Good to know. Several times I have seen a hardback at far cheaper prices listed as "Used" and hesitated. Next time I might give it a shot.

Just know that most of them have sharpie marks with that route. If your wanting a showcase may want to just do full price bks

Yeah, that is one of the reasons I have not bought any. I can't stand people who mark their books.

This is more of a last resort when I really want a hardcover and can't get it.

Yeah, with Amazon I like to filter for "New" and "Like New".

I dunno how it'd work out in your currency, but here there are so many sellers who charge a penny for the book with $3.99 shipping for some major bargains. Better World Books is another great used book shop that ships free worldwide.

Feist did do it in Magician though, two in the same universe might have been too much...

Feist does it at least twice in his series that I can recall...

Given the current exchange rate, that is a fantastic price. I will keep an eye on the site
