New title (which I think you'll note is a clever play on words...F8...Fate), and the trailer drops on Sunday.

Here's a tease before then.

This story sounds completely idiotic. 7 was pretty dumb as well but this makes no sense.

First of all, what would make Dom turn on the others? The only logical reason would be that evil lady threatened "the family" but that is bullshit. They'd just fight her to the death in stead.

Let me guess in this film Kurt Russel is secretly the bad guy and evil lady is the good lady? Surprise!

Second of all, they are breaking out Jason Stratham. The guy who caused the death of, what was it? 2 of the family in 7? How the hell does any of that make sense?

This is a garbage manuscript.

The stories have never really been airtight anyway.

But this series jumped the incredibly long runway shark several tanks ago

ETA - this looks like it will make people stupider for watching

Well aren't you guys a ray of sunshine.

Lol

And Apt, you like the Phantom Menace...you don't ever get to talk about plot holes or studpid writing. :p

As far as I recall, the plot of Phantom Menace is actually pretty good. It's all political scheming and trade wars. The execution of some of the stuff, like all those long ear aliens was less solid of course.

Seems like they went full video game with the shoot out on the ice with cars with mounted weapons on top.

I'm calling my it already - best movie of 2017 :p

The point of FF films has never been 'what will make sense plot-wise?' It is, 'what would be cool to do?' Stath's character was a badass, let's bring him back! He'll probably turn at some point in the film anyway.

And actually, if you think about it, they made a point of showing he was still alive after 7, so they always intended to bring him back - which suggests long-term thought has gone into the plots...after a fashion :p

I like the mystery why is this person bad concept, though they already did that with Michelle Rodriguez's character (they'll probably refer to this as she seems especially prominent in the trailer).

No sign there of them bringing in the Tokyo Drift guy as a Paul Walker replacement - which is a good thing.

^^This.

These movies are not, and have never been about solid plot. They are stylish, over-the-top, popcorn nonsense to enjoy for 2 hours. As such, they are a goddamned blast.

Going into these movies expecting some perfect coherency or plot and drama...is not going to work.

These are genre-b movies. The type you watch with friends with a big bucket of popcorn and drinks.

OhI have no illusions about what they are.

And some of them are enjoyable for that. But some parts are just so ridiculous you just have to roll your eyes.

Indeed, but that's when you have a drink!

I often roll my eyes at it, but man are they fun to watch.
