The first fifteen lives of Harry August by Claire North is very good.

Uprooted by naomi novaks is good.

Have you tried clines non ex-heroes series? Vaguely lovecraftian and very fun. Also Charles stross the laundry series.

Also you don't seem to have read any discworld books. You should remedy this.

I read Black Company prior to Malazan and found myself thinking of it right away when reading Malazan. I'm sure it's out there but was it a series that inspired Erikson?
