Ok guys. We are a day away. Only one match on Thursday. But Friday's got two sexy ones.

- Egypt v. Uruguay. The sexy Pharaoh of soccer v. Mr. Chompers (aka bitey bite man). Is Salah completely healed? And what's the Vegas odds that Suárez is going to taste man flesh?
- Portugal v. Spain. How far can the the panties dropper carry Portugal? Certainly out of the group stage, right?

Spain just fired their coach. Seems like a good time to do it... :p

Apparently it is against UEFA guidelines to fire a coach so shortly before a major tournament. No clue if FIFA upholds similar rules. I assume not, but if so, it could technically mean disqualification for Spain. Which would put the first team on the reserve list into the tournament. Which is the Netherlands.

Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

Fifa stand to make (now I was under the impression they were supposed to be a non profit) eleven BILLION dollars from the 2026 world cup.

I mean, I don't even.......

Don't worry, all this will flow back into grassroots football. The type that is played in the FIFA officials' deep green pockets. Or do dollar bills have a different colour?

Getting back to the current world cup, Russia surely must be one of the worst teams to ever act as the host team on a world cup. Their side is absolutely dire. I think they will beat Saudi Arabia, but it will be a close call. Dont see them surviving the group stage, to be honest.

It was a slaughter fest. Kinda felt disgusting watching Putin sit in his chair and gloat at the scores.
How many fucking people do I have to hammer in order to get that across.

Well, you can hardly get an easier opponent to kick off with than Saudi Arabia.

Dayuuum! Russia 5, Saudi Arabia nil.

Did you guys see the shots of Putin and the Saudi Crown Prince? Every time Russia would score, a camera would go to to them. At first Putin seemed all nonchalant, like "yep, we're doing great, your team is making a show of it though." Juxtaposed to when Russia scored that 5th goal, and Putin's demeanor changes to one of *shrugging "Holy shit, I hope I didn't piss him off to where the Sudi's don't want to deal with me".

And what about that opening ceremony? What is the international appeal of Robby Williams? I don't get it. Also, do you think Russia planted that Ivanka Trump look alike to piss off Trump? It's almost like they're teasing "hey Donald, remember, we have the pee pee tape ready to go".

Robbie Williams is one of the few good things to come from a boy band.

Say what you like, he might not have written many of them but his back catalogue has some great tunes in it

Damn. Late goals like that are such a gut punch. Man, I was pulling for Egypt to. I guess Salah is still not healthy enough to go yet?

Against all my expectations, Spain vs Portugal is turning out to be a fantastic watch. I hate both teams and usually when they meet they have a dire display with slow-paced boring and nasty football. But the first half so far has been utterly engaging.

Remains to be seen if Spain can come back from that. My impression is that Spain is missing a junction between the midfield and the attackere

This may very well be one of the most entertaining football matches I have seen all year. I cannot believe I am saying that about a Spain - Portugal match.

I told my wife half an hour ago: Portugal is going to equalise shortly before the end. Ronaldo gets a free kick. I tell my wife: this is going in. It went in.

What a match.

That was a stonkingly good goal by Ronaldo, as was the third Spanish goal (Nacho I think his name was?)

That to me is what a good world cup game should be: passion, skills, excitement and most of all lots of goals!
