As for "lying slop machine": Flagship models exhibit PhD-level intelligence across multiple fields. For mathematical proofs their logic can be automatically formally verified in Lean. But for a counterexample like this a few simple calculations are sufficient.

I'm too depressed after reading countless articles and papers about the cognitive erosion of gen AI users who've surrendered their own choices to LLMs, tech company staff who know they get zero to negative productivity from enforced gen AI but can't talk about it publicly else they'll be fired and blacklisted, and the state of public education being decimated with new graduates not knowing how to do anything without asking ChatGPT, that not even learning OpenAI is making less than 10% of the projected profits they claimed they'd need to make to stay solvent is enough to make me go on a tangent in the wrong thread

Eddie Howe has left Newcastle.

He didn't have his best season last year, but he managed such a brilliant run that felt like fans could have hope again after the long slump under MIke Ashley. And it looks like they're parachuting in a pet manager from a Saudi league club in his place. Yay.

I can't help but feel this is us relegated next season. We've had another shocking transfer window and looks like we'll end it with most of our best players having departed if Arsenal get Guimaraes.

Probably not something a lot of football fans care about, but in a sport that's riddled with too much money and a culture of cheating within the game (I struggle on and off with following it), it felt nice having someone so thoroughly decent at the helm.

To be honest having read Howe's statement it seems to be his own decision and he sounds exhausted. I'm still sad to see him go but I feel less bad than if he'd been sacked. And it's been nice reading the overwhelmingly lovely things players past and present have had to say about him the last couple of days.
