I'd wait for some actual mathematicians to weigh in before trusting the lying slop machine, personally

As a specific counterexample it's very easy to formally verify. And yes, actual mathematicians have confirmed it.

As for "lying slop machine": Flagship models exhibit PhD-level intelligence across multiple fields. For mathematical proofs their logic can be automatically formally verified in Lean. But for a counterexample like this a few simple calculations are sufficient.

I've been using DeepSeek extensively in my study of graduate level pure mathematics. I always check its work rigorously, and it rarely makes mistakes. Research mathematicians have confirmed the extraordinary usefulness--and even the extraordinary creativity---of LLMs that have been enhanced with reasoning models.

Yeah ... don't use DeepSeek.
It may be a decent model by a lot of accounts, but it's even worse than the others for stealing your data and tracking you etc because this one is straight outta Beijing.

Implying Beijing is actually any worse than Silicone Valley/Washington DC.

Implying any AI is actually good.

I'm too depressed after reading countless articles and papers about the cognitive erosion of gen AI users who've surrendered their own choices to LLMs, tech company staff who know they get zero to negative productivity from enforced gen AI but can't talk about it publicly else they'll be fired and blacklisted, and the state of public education being decimated with new graduates not knowing how to do anything without asking ChatGPT, that not even learning OpenAI is making less than 10% of the projected profits they claimed they'd need to make to stay solvent is enough to make me go on a tangent in the wrong thread

Or find the right thread for that matter
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

It's LFC so I believe the usual method is finding someone who has tickets and shanking them behind a nearby pub.

It's LFC so I believe the usual method is you and a bunch of your unemployed mates finding someone who has tickets and shanking them behind a nearby pub.
