GODDAMNIT MY DUMBASS JUST WENT AND RELOADED MYSELF BACK TO THE BEGINNING WHILE TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO SAVE!

Just got to ship to and had lots in inventory.

You'll get there in no time the next time round :p The game automatically saves every time you exit your ship. There are also save points at almost every outpost/shelter/landmark on the planets (they look like aerials, and will spin around when you interact with them). You can also craft a save point which you can carry around with you, and put down whenever you want to save the game.

Is there a fucking map? I keep losing my ship and could swear I’m just going over one hill!!? Not showing up on scanner.

There is an indicator on screen which always shows you where your ship is and how far away it is. It is white with a black outline of a ship. Just spin around till you spot it. It should be more obvious if you use the scanner but it's also easy enough to spot just by looking around normally.

There is no map because, well, these are planet-sized planets (or at least small moon-sized). There is a galaxy map once you get out into space and start warping - but I call that a map in the loosest sense of the word. Prepare to be utterly overwhelmed when you open it up.

So lost! How does a ship disappear like that?!

As I said above...Unless of course you're on the portion of the beginning tutorial where it's like "oh fuck, where's my ship?!" :p In which case, follow the quest instructions.

Thing says to build a caborn nanotube to craft in empty slot but nada thing about this item when I’m on an empty slot. I’m fucking LOST

When you hover the cursor over an empty slot on your exosuit, press X to bring up the various crafting options you have so far. One of them should be Carbon Nanotubes. Hover over it to see what resources you need to build them (50 Carbon, which you gain from most plant-looking things). When you have the resources necessary, click X on an empty slot on your exosuit, go over to the Carbon Nanotubes, and hit X to build it.

Actually didn't take that long, and I found some rare stuff while I was searching.

And when I got back to the space station, a nice little S-class fighter appeared! It's similar to my current ship but it's the first S class I've been able to buy so I got it anyway.

So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Glad you can get different suits from y’all’s pics cause this suit looks like shit!

Some dude loaded on game before I took to the skies and was walking around me and then flying around in a Darth Maulish looking ship. Is this random loading or did this guy choose to load up in my area somehow? I ignored his attention seeking actions.

I didn’t choose that option on loading so idk the setup

Anyone can randomly join another person's game if they choose that option from the start screen. They then appear in the same system as you. If you don't want them around, you can always kick them out of your game by going to the options menu. Somewhere in there is an option to kick players.

You can turn that off in options as well.

It's pretty funny that you've seen another player already... I've never seen an actual human player in any form since the start!

Some people are helping new players out with items and repairs - some are just shooting them and razing their first bases. So take care.

I've had one join my game. He warped in a whole fleet of ships - and then somehow I gained a load of freighter fuel in my inventory after he did a mission. They never actually came down to my planet.

Had to get in my ship to take off to find copper. Now I gotta deploy the computer but I can’t take off. I’m on a very small hill. Think I should just say fuck it and do it here or hike a little away and do it? I hope I’m not to far away from being able to do fuel for this bitch cause it’s a bitch walking around. Not really but I can see it getting old really fast.

It’s Ambien time so I’m not doing anything else tonight. Will see if suggestion are offered in the am before I deploy or walk.

Deuces fuckers!

Copper deposits are usually found all around so you shouldn't have trouble just walking to a pile. And yeah, unless you land at an outpost take off consumes fuel (at outposts you'll see like a blue mesh light up where the landing area is when you fly over it - when that blue turns green hit the land button and you will land in the correct spot. From these, it does not consume fuel to take off again).

Launch fuel is easy enough to make, and every planet has the resources needed to make it, and you should have done it already at least once at the start.

But walking is how you discover cool things :p

lol.

Are you in an area that is base compatible? I haven't started in Next, but usually you have to be in an area with a base computer in order to get the building components come up. If you're out in the wild, when you press up you get the portable equipment, ship summon and stuff - but in a base, you get the base parts like floors and walls etc.
Can't be certain where you're at though. Have you built the base computer?

I may restart the game

Yeah, inventory management is a big thing, at least at the start. You can expand the number of slots you have, either by going to a space station and paying for it at the right vendor, or finding drop pods on planets. Those are free, but you have to fix the pod first.

Ah ok there is the starship refuel prompt. Finished with planet looks like.

I wonder if I should just leave my tech stuff behind as they take up space or just lug them around so I don’t have to keep rebuilding each piece?

I carry mine around as I'm constantly using them, especially the blueprint analyser, signal booster, and refiner.

So...I just logged on and all the planets and animals I have renamed (aside from the ones on my current planet) have reverted back to their original names. Why?

Edit: In the discoveries tab. When I actually fly to the planets they seem to still have my names.

Edit 2: And now that I've looked at the planets again they've changed back to my names in the discoveries tab. Animals remain with their original names still though. I wonder if I scanned them again if they would revert back too (not that I would).

Is there actual rocket fuel consumption when I’m traveling between planets? I haven’t seen a gas tank display and I’m so busy managing other stuff I haven’t looked yet. I have flown in space 3 times so far. Wondering how many more times if there is a limit.

If you use the pulse drive (pressing in the two bumpers together), yes. But it's super easy to refuel. It's called Tirium and it can be found in asteroids that are absolutely everywhere in space. Just shoot them and you'll collect it automatically. Then just put it in your pulse drive.

You don't have cloud saves?

PS4 does cloud saves by default. I have cloud saves on mine and didn't do anything to change a setting to make them happen (so they should be occurring when you plug your console in for the first time). You probably won't get the most recent saved game state, but you shouldn't have to start all over.

Also, if your console is still under warranty, all you need to do is contact support, tell them what happened and they will mail you a return box that you just need to put your console in and send to them (no need to send cords or controllers, just the console) and they should be able to fix it and send it back to you, for free (other then shipping). You will still have all your games and saves. I know this from experience. My PS4 frizzed out about a two years ago or so and I went through this process. If your PS4 is no longer under warranty, I would still do this, it's got to be cheaper then buying a new one. And saves you the head ache of reinstalling all your games and starting over.
