Kinnaman is great casting for Takeshi Kovacs #1. I was impressed by how well he flipped emotional modes and stayed magnetic in House of Cards with some very good actors around him.
Wonder how they'll go for the Bancrofts and Ryker's partner (whose name is escaping me at this point).

I was excited when this got the green light a few months back. More excited now that it seems to be moving forward.
I really just hope that it leads to more Kovacs novels!

There are six Kovacs-universe novels and the latest, The Dark Defiles, was published in 2014. So he probably has something gestating now that we'll see next year.

There's a loose connection between the Kovacs books and the Ringil trilo. Can't say more w/out spoilage.

Same. Dark Defiles was the third book of his fantasy series, and I had no idea they were connected. I'm not even sure they are, having read the first book. I'll look into it further.

So, just a bit of news. They announced the director of the first episode...and it's Miguel Sapochnik...a director you might know from a little episode of Game Of Thrones called HARDHOME.
So you know...AWESOMENESS!

Kinnaman is truly a perfect first Kovacs. Hell do very well in the noir type mode the story will demand of him. If they do Broken Angels and Woken Furies in future years, I'll be fascinated with who they cast as TK.

They can pretty easily ignore the need for new bodies to be different if they want to keep him. I recognize that it's a central point to the books but its one easily handwaved and likely necessary for a visual medium.

Neat. How many episodes will that chapter-long sex scene take?

News today, they're using Edgar Allan Poe instead of Jimi Hendrix for the hotel AI.

If I had to guess, Hendrix estate was probably not excited at the prospect, and Poe was easier to do without the red tape.
Still, that sucks.
Also, odds that (MAJOR spoilers for both Kovacs series AND Morgan's Fantasy "No Land fit For Heroes" series)...
Spoiler

I kind of wish they had gone with Jim Morrison instead.

The point of Poe is that his copyright issues are long past. I wish they'd gone with a black person a la Frederick Douglass or Harriet Tubman or Touissant L'Ouverture because I do think the black part was important to the hotel's willingness to help.
