Indeed, we have several board debutantes this year!
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Congratulations on getting your book published. I have a question. Have you read any of the other books that your publishing company has published. I went to their site yesterday and saw that a lot of their published books were available on amazon for kindle this week at $.99 each. I purchased the four books in the Realmwalker Chronicles and I read most of the first one last night. It was pretty bad and today I got refunded for the other three books because I don't even want to finish them. There were a lot of editing mistakes. For example there were many sentences that were missing words or were just plain awkward. Also the author tries too hard to add too much description. In one sentence a woman "powerfully reached for her magic" and the word powerfully was pointless and a bit redundant. It felt like an authors first attempt at young adult fantasy. If you read these books what did you think. It's very possible that maybe this book was just not my cup of tea and because of that I am being overly critical.

I've not, truth be told. That said, there are so many editing issues present in The Way of Kings that I think I can let that slide.</div><div><br></div><div>EDIT: Should note that TWOK is what I'm self-flagellating with right now.

Maybe the book was just not for me and that was why I noticed so many things wrong with it. I personally loved Way of Kings and I don't remember a lot of editing errors but then again it was years ago that I read it.

I've found eight so far, so one per hundred pages. I'd usually let it go but for something touted as a masterpiece... It's only furthering the sense of disappointment. But you can read more on why that is in the 'what book do you dislike' thread.

I have a goodreads account but don't really know much about it. It seems weird. And anyway given how I've scored WOK on there I think the Sanderfans might hunt me down if I have a page on it.

You could become a Goodreads author though. And don't worry about the Sanderfans, Over in 17th Shard they are worrying about all the adult content in Dresden. Not kidding.

With a sketch!
“The others followed, and found themselves in a small, stuffy basement, which would have been damp, smelly, close, and dark, were it not, in fact, well-lit, which prevented it from being dark.”

This is so awesome. I can only imagine how much work it took. Congrats and I'll probably be reading you soon!
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

I cannot and will not disclose spoilers on this since it is not published, but I will say I very much enjoyed it.

Do you ever talk out loud to yourself? And if so, do you think you could translate that into "writing out loud to yourself and clicking post"?

There are characters, and I do nasty things to them.
Break The Cutie is my favourite trope.
