Rothfuss "lost" a bet for charity fundraising and will read the prologue and chapter 1 on stream sometime.

As to when that will be, I dunno. He certainly can stretch anything out to whatever time it ends up being.

Ridiculous sexy time and ridiculous gaps between books considered

Is Rothfuss actually Chuck Tingle? Have we stumbled onto a dangerous conspiracy? Have we answered what he's up to lately?

I know those are supposed to scales on the dragoncow's front legs but they look suspiciously like fishnets.

This part always blows my mind because this dude sold this book series to the publisher as a FINISHED trilogy. He'd apparently written all three.

I'm not sure what happened when he started editing the first two books, but somewhere along those lines the third book went into the trash on his end, and he's not reportedly written a word of a replacement, at the very least his own editor has not seen a page of it. It's been a decade.

And he's a dick to his fans if they dare to ask about it.

I've abandoned Rothfuss, and even if Book 3 ever comes out, I doubt I'll read it. The guy sopped up any good will I had for him with bad behaviour and a seemingly crappy work ethic.

We've been over this several times, the guy's been suffering from mental health issues and other personal problems. That coupled with the project getting away from him has stopped him in his tracks supposedly. At some point it probably gets hard to deal with frustrated people.

I can't fault a person for not completing a book series if he's physically or mentally incapable. Writer's block is a real thing.

If it ever gets finished, good. Otherwise chalk it up as a dead series like A Song of Ice and Fire.

Hopefully he didn't completely destroy all copies of the original completed version of the final book. Then if he dies without completing it perhaps his will will allow for someone else to touch it up and finish it based on his notes? Or is he opposed to that? At least publish what he had with a bit of editing?

He's really not that great a writer, so so long as the plot is moderately interesting it might be worthwhile, at least for fans. If it ever does become a tv series (Lin-Manuel Miranda was working on one) they should (hopefully) have plenty of money left over to hire writers.

Maybe they can get George RR Martin to finish it.
Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

They should just ask Brandon Sanderson to finish all their books.
