Alright. As a non native of the most hype language there is, I've come across some unusual words within SE's books. Meaning words that I haven't encountered in any other fiction book that I've read in English so far (about 100?). Should mention reading GotM, MoI, TtH and FoD in English.
The weird words I can come up with right now are redolent and surcease. He seems to like those a lot.
Anyone found more?

I think there already was a topic somewhere on uncommon words that SE likes to use. But one of my personal favourites is 'febrile'. No sentence should go without it, lest it loses a febrile vibe of anticipatory turgidness.
Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

hahaha! Alright! I recall frowning at turgid too. But I've seen febrile used by someone else, so nothing new there.

just found gelid for the list. Aaaand, I did imagine there must have been a topic on this sort of business already, however it surely necessitates I'mass help for the resurrection.

As a non-native English speaker (is that the term) as well. I have to say that febrile and gelid struck me as unusual. But there is such a lot of keening going on I actually had to look it up to make sure I had the right meaning

Hell if I know what the term is! Let the natives tell us! (btw, should we form a syndicate? it can contain crime too - which is actually preferable - you know, I'm picturing something on the lines of Cowboy Bebop :))

Huzzah for keening though. I too had to browse the dictionary. Then it struck me that R.K. Morgan used the marrow out of this word too in A Land Fit for Heroes, just as baffling at he time, so it still makes the list.

Ah, but I read Morgan after Malazan. And we should definitely form a syndicate!

'serendipity' is one of those weird words that everyone has heard thanks to some movie
I don't remember 'cerulean' from SE's books but it's a very simple word for me since 'cer' in romanian means sky, so it better be blue! lol if i were to translate it, it would sound like 'skyalistic' lol

@Andorion alright! let's start with a name. it has to sound grand and give little indication of its true purpose *snigger*

demesne was one. crepuscular. there were a lot and now I can't remember.

also, all his action sequences have someone doing something "even as" he does somethings else. It's used so often in the series it was driving me crazy.

He does! It was especially bizarre listening to the audiobooks... he uses the word "bole" a lot, which is incredibly unusual (took me a while to stop automatically thinking "bowl"). Also "Ware" as short for "beware / be wary of".
