So I've just made myself a cup of what is becoming my default hot drink at the moment and got my wife to taste it. She wasn't too impressed. I on the other hand cannot get enough.

What goes into it? A spoon of Kenco Smooth instant coffee, 1 Everest style spoon of white hot chocolate powder and 1½ similar spoons of normal hot chocolate powder. ¼ fill the mug with cold milk, pour in boiling water and stir.

Not only does it taste like a rather nice hot chocolate but the coffee gives it a bit of a kick for days like today when I finish work at 6am and have ploughed on through till 6pm so far with only an hours nap through more DIY/decorating of our house.

So what do you drink / have you drunk that isn't the usual cup of tea?

I once boiled water & added a spoon of marmite. Then I mixed the result with red wine, all because someone told me it was delicious.

I think I might have been trolled...

For the record I do love both marmite and red wine. Individually.

3/4 cup of cold curd (sour) 1.5 teaspoons instant coffee, 1 teaspoon sugar, chocolate syrup, stir and shake vigorously.

Tasted like a pretty decent milkshake

Nothing too special here.

I love carbonated drinks but I have decided to stop drinking pop about 6 months ago, so I just get carbonated water and mix it with juice. 'Bout 1/3 juice to water ratio. Carbonated grapefruit / pomegranate / orange juice just taste awesome and satisfies my craving with (hopefully) less sugars and other BS.

I'll have to remember that, I'm not a marmite fan although my other half is. I may have to catch her on a sleepy morning and try it on her :D

Ooh, I like the sound of this one. Have you tried swapping honey/maple syrup/etc in for the chocolate syrup?

There's a much bigger range available then too. Do you do filtered juice or lumpy?. Go through the nutrition information on each and work out roughly what should be in it, almost certainly it'll be better for you than regular fizzy pop

I hadn't thought of honey. Problem is most of the commercial stuff here tastes awful. I'll have to pick up some craft honey.

Cranberry juice with tonic water. About 10:1 proportion. Mix with vodka if going for alcoholic drink, but it tastes amazing without, too. The tonic gives is a nice, lasting aftertaste.

I stopped reading at 'instant coffee'. Sacrilege makes the tip of my nose itch.

I learned a long time ago that the taste of beer went well with pumpkin pie. Go figure.

So how come the new pumpkin flavoured beers taste like ass?

Y'all are crazy.

What would you recommend for a non-tea drinker to get started with? Coffee is way to bitter for me, even with oodles of sugar. So, oolong? Green? Something semi-sweet but not too bitter (considering the earlier).
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

I will use this thread for my question I suppose.

All you tea enthusiasts, what is a good quality tea that I can buy as a gift? I live in Canada so something that is available here or possibly online.

Thanks.
