Not a tea drinker myself, but maybe Whittard of Chelsea? I was in one of their shops a few days ago and they've got quite a neat range.

According to their website (Whittard.co.uk) they deliver to Canada as well.

[edit]Hmmm, £25 delivery charge for items under 3kg, maybe not worth it then.

Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

For everyday tea I just use Yorkshire Tea (hard water one as our water is 99.85% calcium carbonate)

I've got a couple of more unusual ones around at the moment that get used rarely mainly because I find a tea strainer a bit of a faff: Gorreana Pekoe and some Dilmah breakfast tea, both returned from relatives travelling. I'm sure both can be internet-shopped and they're both very nice, leaning slightly towards the Gorreana at the moment.

I stopped reading at 'instant coffee'. Sacrilege makes the tip of my nose itch.

Again with the faff thing.

Y'all are crazy.

What would you recommend for a non-tea drinker to get started with? Coffee is way to bitter for me, even with oodles of sugar. So, oolong? Green? Something semi-sweet but not too bitter (considering the earlier).

Have you tried Turkish fruit teas? Personal favourites are the orange and the lemon.

Suddenly this popped into my head.

It'd be discrimination if she didn't.

I'm sure we had a drink thread somewhere, but since i can't find it right now I'll ask here - any recommendations for a non-peaty single malt?

I've nothing against peaty whiskey but I already have a bottle of Laphroaig, and I'd like to try something a bit different.

So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

I will use this thread for my question I suppose.

All you tea enthusiasts, what is a good quality tea that I can buy as a gift? I live in Canada so something that is available here or possibly online.

Thanks.

Well, since you're in Canada.

DAVID's TEA. Which is a loose tea emporium with a MONSTROUS selection of curated blends of loose tea. And under sub categories like Black, Oolong, Green, Ect. to make it easier to pick. It's nice to go into the store and query the staff who will let you both smell and taste the teas and advise you on them. But you can totally buy the stuff online too.

Sidenote: IF you are buying someone tea from here, make sure to either get them the filters (paper, comes in packs, disposable) which they would use for brewing in a cup, or just spend a bit more and go for a proper tea ball (metal, does the same job but is permanent)

I've been using this place as a go-to for the tea lovers in my family for years now. The selection cannot be beaten. LOTS of locations in Canada too.

Whatever you do, don't try The Peat Monster. Tastes like you're drinking campfire smoke.

Um, let's see. My go-to is Macallan usually...just the 10 year.

But I'll throw the Glendronach 12 out there too. It's a lovely Highland single malt (I find the Speyside whisky's are usually much peatier, at least the ones I've tried) that I buy whenever it's in stock. It's calmer and sweeter than a lot of others I've tried.

And though it's pretty middle-of-the-road as a brand, the Glenlivet 15 year has a nice body that is anything but peaty...also sweet. My wife usually picks me up a bottle at airport duty-free cause it's a bit pricier.

But yeah, try the Glendronach, it's quite nice, and initially recommended to me by a Scottish author (Robyn Young) on Twitter.

In other tea news, there is such a thing as "Iced Teagarita". I have had it. In fact, I may have had far too much of it last night :)

I kinda love it when D'rek unleashes her nerd wrath, as I knew she would here. Sorry innocent bystanders, but someone's gotta be the kindling.
