So this then confirms the sending of the boat back to Sunspear. It should have been more prominent, perhaps letting us read this in real time, before Ellaria killed Doran.

Actually, the tense 'I am sending him back' still leaves it fairly ambiguous. The intent was for him to go back, but no indication the ship left King's Landing yet.

True, the message could have arrived by bird while the boat turned around.

This whole thing is a writer's room clusterfuck. I hope the next few episodes make up for this.

Could be writers and it could be editing.

To me, the details are unimportant enough that I'm not really MAD. I mean, it is ambiguous and odd, but hopefully, as discussed upthread, they cut short details like this so they can get on with other things. They have 2.5 seasons left, time to stop dallying on every little distraction.
Tatts early in SH game: Hmm, so if I'm liberal I should have voted Nein to make sure I'm president? I'm not that selfish

Tatts later in SAME game: I'm going to be a corrupt official. I have turned from my liberal ways, and now will vote against the pesky liberals. Viva la Fascism.
When Venge's turn comes, he will get a yes from Mess, Dolmen, Nevyn and Venge but a no from the 3 fascists and me. **** with my Government, and i'll **** with yours

I doubt it. We're probably going to see Ellaria ruling Dorne (because none of the other noble houses of Dorne exist) and declaring war somehow against the Lannisters and Tyrells, and then some probable stuff where Dorne by itself does the job that Dorne+Golden Company are going to do in the books. Although in the TV show they never established that Dorne's military reputation is overstated like they do in the books, so maybe that can fly a bit better. I don't know, I think the producers should have just followed their first instincts and never gone to Dorne. It's been an unmitigated disaster.

It's quite something when you have both the Hollywood Reporter and Vulture pointing out the storyline has gone off the rails.

Please don't tell me whip girl is going to start beating knights now. These bunch of psychos are literally the polar opposite of Brienne. Why even have such one dimensional characters? I mean Tywin and Roose are way scarier villains.

Dorne is such a disaster.
Every time anything happens with the Sand Snakes I want to rake my face.
I really have no idea how this season is going to fly. I've enjoyed the past ones sooo much, but Season 5 gave me very little faith in the Ben & Weiss pulling off their own storylines. Don't get me wrong, some of their added scenes in season 1 and 2 were some of the best scenes, but Jaime/Bronn vacation was tantamount to throwing garbage at the viewer. I half expected Xena to show up. This season I feel like book people will dislike the show much more than TV fans, though. A certain uncomfortable itch between their shoulder blades.

Meanwhile, I co-host a post-GoT show for www.dorkshelf.com that is released Mondays after the new episodes air.

I have questions on that opener.

1: Has Cersei and the showrunners forgotten about her black haired 4th child? It seems like they have.
...

1. No clue
2. Tyrion was a part of her inner council. I don't thin he is ruling it alone, I think they are doing it as a group.
...

Wait, what fourth kid? - Wasn't he stillborn I the books and never in the show?

He didn't exist in the books, as far as I know. She just told the story to Catelyn in the show after Bran fell to try to show empathy. I think. My memories of that are very vague. In the story, she actually loved Robert at that time, or wanted to; in the books, she never loved him and took pains to make sure she never bore his child.

She mentions to Ned that she aborted the child.

The show should have left that out entirely if they didn't want to go the abortion way (which seems to be a big issue in the US), but not turned it into some mommy loves black haired baby thing and whitewash her that way. The writing was on the wall in season 1 already, though I had hopes it would remain some obscure grafitti. Well, when they introduced that Florence Nightingale clone in season 2, I knew GoT wasn't for me. I've seen a few episodes on free TV and read some reviews which only confirmed that I'm too much of a book purist. :) And now we got Xena running amok in Dorne, it seems. :p

That's what I thought but I wasn't sure so I went with "took pains".

Oddly, I am also a book purist and I love to complain about what they screw up. But I still enjoy the show.

YESSSSSSSSS, this episode was awesome. And, all about the potential dragonriders. Resurrection of Jon, with the Tower of Joy next week! Tyrion frees the dragons. Bran won't be with the three-eyed raven forever. Who will be left out?

More thoughts as I remember stuff: I'm happy the Night's Watch stood down with minimal casualties. I'm glad they showed the scene of Balon's death and made it more explicit than the books--but they included the storm. Very well done. I was hoping that the news would be what restored Melisandre's faith, but I guess they just used it to restore the viewers' faith in Melisandre.

Thought that was pretty awesome. Ramsay was kind of a cheese-fest (and sorry to see Roose go), but everything else was pretty spot on.

Sorry you had to go through that!

I liked that Mel's ritual mirrored the cleaning ritual at the House of Black and White.

It might not have been so bad if their website wasn't overloaded and laggy as fuck. But I suspect that all the old-timers at Westeros have a private forum where they discuss the show, because they're never on these threads.

Done with Westeros. Too much dumb.

The talk is that Rickon is Ramsey's gift.

What gift? This rings no bells.

But it sounds like nonsense anyway. The show probably isn't doing Skagos at all, but I'd say that simply puts Rickon at Bear Island instead? Just a guess, but the Mormonts were contacted by Stannis in S5 and they expressed major Stark loyalty.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.
