Pumped for the finale.
Sad that will be all the Game of Thrones until next year.

THAT SAID...

...and I'm somewhat psychotic this way...

...one of my favourite things to do is create the 15-second thumbnail gifs of each episode on my Playstation, and yes, I'm a grown man, father and home owner. Like picking a mix tape, there is a subtle art to choosing the perfect scene to display as an example of each episode, as well as choosing which story lines to show in varying order and ensuring they sync seamlessly. Plus choosing action vs. drama! You don't want to show all the best stuff in a preview. During the off season I scroll through the episodes, watching the snippets and relishing the collected awesome. Once episode 10 is done, the time will come once more.

Sidenote on this ridiculousness: the best one is for episode 202 and it's of Theon feeling up his own sister because he's such a doofus.

Not DEM at all, for the very reason you note. They foreshadowed it so heavily the only suspense was which characters would die before Littlefinger would show up.

But due to the handling of it (which was pretty awful) it felt like a DEM in spite of the heavy foreshadowing.

I watched with a friend in Chicago, so I have to drive back home. This episode.... So much perfect. My short comment: the music set the scene perfectly from the beginning. So different from anything else we've seen before. Cersei has her own theme now.

Gonna be pretty weird waking up in a world where Dany is sailing to Westeros and R+L=J is on.

"The King in the North" chant just htas such bad connotations. Otherwise, fuck yeah buddy. Kill 'em all and let the 7 sort 'em out.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

So what's Cersei's play now that the Tyrells are mostly blown the fuuuuck up and that Tommen is dead?

She's basically got 1.5 influential people on her side (Qyburn and the Mountain) with Jaime being a ?.

Jaime is not a ? He is a big fat Hell the Fuck No. Say hello to the valonqar. At this point Cersei is probably just waiting for Tyrion to show up.

Ok, about 15 minutes into the episode and my wife is asking who's living through this episode instead of dying? Watching Tommen step out of that window hit hard.

Is it bad that i laughed when Tommen jumped?
....its bad, isnt it...?

Damn, Lena sells cold hard. ok, sure Tommen had totally turned on her, but even so, brrrr.

"I name you Hand of the Queen." Tyrion kneels. ALL THE FEELS.

Oh hey, Dorne. And Granma Tyrell. And Varys. Neat.

Arya was glorious. Neverminding her magic teleport across a continent in like a day, that was GLORIOUS. And her face was all kinds of crazy.

Bran proved what most of the fandom had already figured, yet managed to do it in a way that a bunch of people are still not going to understand becuse they didnt spell out who the father was.

That little girl who plays Lady Mormont. Sign her to full time cast member, right the fuck now.

Oh hey Varys also has a magic teleport. Whatever, that last scene was AWESOME.

We know he's a hell no. She thinks he's a ?.

So my question still stands - what's her play? She has no money, no army, and has just blown up half the stability-inducing forces in the region. I'm not sure of her popularity with the average person at this point, but most of them are probably in their "huddle until the crazy lady goes away again" mode. Tyrion, I think is far from her mind.

She's gotta be banking on Littlefinger being friendly.

Btw, it's really interesting to see the reactions of people who don't read/watch SFF AT ALL to the show. There's a certain prominent individual talking about how "methods of governance are constantly at question", "what type of ruler is best", and more in that vein. Bruh... Arya just made a guy eat his own sons in pie, told him, then killed him. This... isn't what you're thinking it is.

I'm both amused and annoyed at this phenomenon because the things GRRM/the showrunners are often most interested in playing with are kind of stacked upon prior familiarity with tropes, with landmark works, and with the general metagame of SFF books/television. And this guy doesn't acknowledge that he's got a frisson of joy over the cannibal moment just like he does with the Maegery on trial stuff too.

They have just made a complete hash of explaining it, especially if she is not questioned by Jon and providing an explanation next episode (and I bet she won't ... as they have a lot of action to cover).

Now about the episode in particular:

Nice to finally have R+L=J done with more or less. But felt forced the way they broke up the scene to suspend the payoff until the final episode, especially with Bran jumping right back into that vision and that vision alone.

Cersei thing played out more or less as you'd think. Although I didn't think she'd manage to whipe out that much main cast. And also the stabbing of Lancel was a rather pointless plot device so that they could show the candles burning down. He had no real reason to follow the kid.

Banishment for the Red Woman? Talk about a half measure.

Lady Mormont is awesome, but yeah, too much rallying too soon to a guy who just proved why he should not command, and still not legitimate.

Was really hoping to have Sansa surprise and kill Littlefinger ... going to have to wait on that awhile longer.

Glad to have Arya be the one to take out the Freys, even if it required a jetpack moment. And very interesting that she can use the faces when she is not 'no one'.

Next year is going to be surreal, knowing who Jon's parents are and what Littlefinger wants, and with Dany actually doing something.

When Venge's turn comes, he will get a yes from Mess, Dolmen, Nevyn and Venge but a no from the 3 fascists and me. **** with my Government, and i'll **** with yours

CREEEPYY KIDS

So, this was it? Everyone dead? All the time this season we spend in Kings Landing just to kill everyone? Only three persons are left alive?

Liked Jaime. Dissing Walter Frey.

What. Sam arrives now in Old Town? We last saw him a few episodes back. He could have been now in Volantis, Castle Black, everywhere. Why is he not using the teleporter Petyr has.

White Raven. Winter is coming. And poor Davos. I'm not sure if banishing Mellisandre is a good idea

No, the Sand Snakes are back.

Bye Bye Daario. You are the lucky one. At least you survived.

"No one mylord" - aha.
Arya is fucking creepy. and also has a teleporter. Was it necessary to cook the Freys?

Lyanna Mormont :D

Jon Snow, the White Wolf. WHERE IS GHOST? They killed so many actors that they should be able to pay for one wolf.

Epic.

And Jaime teleports as well. Just in time to see the black queen.

And Varys is back in Mereen. Mistake or teleporter. Why could he not wait in Dorne.

Do you know how much work it takes to make a carcass pie ready enough to be eaten? It's completely overblown and the only reason it works in the books is because it's a Lord and a big chunk of his peeps doing it.

One magic fucking assassin girl does it inside a day. Wheeeeee.

The show is doing the usual show thing where the feel good of a character doing something in the line of "deserved revenge" wipes out any considering of the logic or story fitness if that action. It's drama for drama's sake and I see it for what it is.

Teleporation was a terrible element of this episode . It's a cheap writers trick that's really out of control...

Also wow. So. Yeah. All. That. Really. Just. Happened

Queen vs Queen. Makes sense. Why did we replay king of the north ??

I really liked this finale mind ya.. Just the above is annoying.

I still hope to see Jamie fight under Jon

She knew it was going to happen. Myrcella was confirmation to her, if Joffrey and the line about her children and Robert's wasn't enough. She was expecting it; she just wasn't expecting to be betrayed by him beforehand. She was already preparing for her coronation before he jumped.

I was watching with a friend, and when she put on that dress, I was like, is that...armor? Such a badass costume; I wish it didn't give me the creeps, along with the Lion Queen music.

I don't understand why time skips are such a hard concept for people to grasp. There's no teleporting. Not all time passes on screen.

I'm not so sure, considering the look on her face. She could see that Hell the Fuck No look on his face just as well as we could.

Like I said. She's probably waiting for Tyrion to show up and kill her. She's seen every aspect of her prophecy fulfilled except for that. Of course, it's going to be Jaime instead. That look of horror on his face as she sat on the throne was so priceless and amazing. Anyway, Cersei is basically insane at this point. She knows she's going to die and she's trying to take out as many of her enemies as possible before the time comes.

That I doubt, though I wouldn't be surprised if Littlefinger looks for refuge with her. I still have hopes that Tyrion or Sansa will get him, though. Littlefinger worked so hard to screw Tyrion over with that dagger, and in other ways.

Yep. That's part of what made that scene so beautiful.

He was lured by the kid; one could argue that's believable. But he's also part of Cersei's revenge. I was hoping he would have the chance to spill the beans to Jaime but it's nice to see that it won't be necessary. Jaime is officially disillusioned.

She did say she would see Arya again. I suspect she'll go find the Brotherhood. Would be nice to see a return of Gendry. I was sad we got no Brienne this ep, though.

I was surprised to see that; after he stole Heartsbane, I expected them to ditch the Citadel plot. I loved that scene in the library so much.

The white ravens were a beautiful throwback to Robb calling in his banners from Winterfell.

Since they didn't ditch the Citadel, they have a bit of book material left to work with. That's literally the only book material they have left to work with, actually, unless they decide to use Aegon after all. But that seems doubtful. I love that they're using this plot partly because it has the potential to keep Jaqen in play.

Yup, a Jon/Dany marriage was heavily foreshadowed in this ep. That's more than I expected, honestly. I can't wait for them to meet.

Her nephew. She made her brother Hand of the King. And he's already married to her future sister-in-law, anyway. If Arya marries Jaime it will be a trifecta. :D

(More and more convinced that Tywin was impotent and all his children were Aerys's.)

My reactions to this ep were: "Listen to Margaery, you TWATSPARROW! WTF Cersei! You couldn't save your son's wife? Oh shit, Tommen. Poor, sweet innocent Tommen. Oh good, so Sansa did know it was wrong not to tell Jon about the knights of the Veil. Glad we got that cleared up. YES, ARYA, YEEEEEEEEES! Hahahaha, that Olenne laying into the Sand snakes almost made it okay for them to be in this episode. Stfu Littlefinger, Sansa knows how you play your games now. KING OF THE NORTH!!!!!!!"

So yeah, I was happy with this episode. Good season finale.
