Well, I have just read the best summing up I have personally come across on reddit.

Here is the link:

https://www.reddit.c...hed_the_series/

Does it resonate with you they way it did with me?

Edit: guess the typo was simply too tempting for people to ignore *grrrr.....*

What a couple of jerks, it's obvious you made an easy typo (darn autocorrect to heck, right?) and your thread shouldn't be penalized for it. I will answer your original question as it was meant to be answered.

You see, I semen the Malazan series thuswise...
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

The goggles. They don't work :harhar:
Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

You will laugh.
You will cry.
You will cheer at the top of your lungs.
You will throw the book across the room in disgust.
And when you are finished the series, you will sit in silence for a time while you contemplate just how much your perspective on life has changed.

I kinda love it when D'rek unleashes her nerd wrath, as I knew she would here. Sorry innocent bystanders, but someone's gotta be the kindling.

You don't... in a case of involuntary reflex, you already opened GotM as you sat there contemplating. You finish contemplating, you lower your eyes... Now these ashes have grown cold.... ... you start all over again - immediately :(

It's War and Peace written by an archeologist/anthropologist rpg fan who swordfights for fun. It's Shogun with dragons and dimension hoping. It's The Iliad with bigger armies and The Odyssey with bigger monsters and Das Nibelung with more interesting heroes. It's Ragnarok only more epic. Its Ramayama with about the same amount of sex with demons.

In short. yes. Malazan remains my only ever instance of "book hangover" - I think I lasted about three months and then re-read it all because I just couldn't get in to anything else because my head was still in the Malazan books.

I love it when you read something like this, it's just one more person who "gets it" if you will, and understands how the series makes you feel.

Have you started putting in Malazan gods on official forms that ask about your religion?
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Funnily enough, I use Malazan curses a lot at work...

Though I have to be careful not to use any phrases involving "Hood's" as my boss' surname is actually Hood.

If he heard me muttering "Hood's balls on an anvil" i'd probably get in trouble.

It's Togg's teats for me, or to Hood with it when things aren't working as they're supposed to

'You look like Hood's own shit' comes in handy first thing in the morning...

I just finished my first reread. I'm in ICE now, but I keep wanting to restart MBotF, despite having to pry RotCG out of my white-knuckled fingers

I've re-read about 4 times now, not counting the re-reads i did as TtH, DoD and tCG came out. Ive re-read ICE's books once or twice as well, but not in order as they never felt like a cohesive story to me (still love them but they're more individual stories in the same universe to me) now it gets to the point where i will just go into a book for certain scenes just because i want to read something epic while i'm commuting to work.
