This. It is quite remarkable how some fictional characters from words on a page can do this. A testament to the quality and depth of Erikson's writing. Not only on ideals, beliefs and history but emotional/relational development also. I did not expect this gift from what was initially an impulse buy in 2003 of Memories of Ice, but one I am extremely grateful for. Quite the accolade for a Sci-Fi-Fantasy series. Not that accolades from myself mean anything.
