I will probably be buying FO4 next week but I am cautious about Bethesda games and game launches. Hell, I ended up waiting 2 years before playing Skyrim.

I reckon they have probably spent the Fall polishing the game but I still want to see the reviews and user feedback in the week after release. I think there's a big chance something wonky is uncovered about that game.

I have sworn off day one/preorder purchases except in certain cases. Witcher 3 was an exception. So is this. I know it will have issues, I don't care. They will be fixed eventually. Fallout 3 might be my favorite game ever, there is no chance I'm not getting this, and the season pass, as a preorder.

I actually need to preorder it, now that I think about it.

I have the same philosophy around certain games, this one included. I'll be getting the season pass aswell at some point. Another such game, for me, will be Total War: Warhammer. Barring any problems that make the game unplayable I will be abusing both Fallout 4 and TW: Warhammer so much it ought to be illegal. And I should hope that Creative Assembly have learned their lesson with TW: Rome2. Bethesda always have problems at launch with their games, but none that I've found to be game breaking. And I've found their games solid and entertaining all the way back to Morrowind.
Screw you all, and have a nice day!

Unisex booty confirmed, need you know more?

On my part, I'm a total sucker for big, open-world Bethesda games. I pre-ordered Skyrim back in the day as well. I can almost guarantee that I'll be playing an AGI/PER focused sneak sniper type character, as well.

I'm not sure what that means, exactly, and why it is important?

I think he is referring to the gratuitous camera angles of the characters but as he/she walks away from the camera.

EDIT: I am sort of worried about this game. The leaked stuff coupled with the launch trailer has me thinking this is going to be an out dated game:

Nothing about what this trailer shows us screams next gen or reinvention or even innovation. The environments are bland'ish, the characters are stiff, notice that the trailer never focuses on any given characters face for long, the combat that they show is stilted, ...I don't know.

I am sure the game will be good. I just worry about how this game will be received.

Yep, my comment was referencing the protagonist's gratuitous bum shots everywhere.

As to how it plays - I'll report back after I get down with it on Tuesday. Really hoping for some NV style moral ambivalence.

Yes, on Tuesday we shall see how it plays.

Honestly I don't need it to be innovative. I will gladly take a 400 hour fallout 3 expansion.

I mean, some steps forward would be nice, but as long as as they get the soul of fallout 3 in there I'm good.

I think you are right. Bethesda games to me is all about exploring a giant map and encountering strange events. I am fairly confident Fallout will deliver on that. I am curious to see what the critical reaction will be.

I've been checking Neogaf and r/games regularly during the day looking for early reviews/leaks/Official topics, etc. Seems that there is some serious negativity brewing from the framerate crowd.

They made this bingo plackard to check off excuses made to defend Fallout 4:

When you say "Framerate crowd" do you then mean a group calling themselves that or is there a consensus that there's a problem with the actual framerate?

In guessing those that actually look at and notice the framerate, and then judge a game based on that factor above everything else the game has to offer.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

These are the two main topics on Fallout right while they are waiting for the OT thread.

http://www.neogaf.co...d.php?t=1137035

http://www.neogaf.co...d.php?t=1128645

There's footage being posted of gameplay that suggests fremerate drops when indoors, fighting a lot of mobs, aiming down a scope, etc.

Like this video: https://vid.me/JLcx

There's also some fun bug videos but I can't find them now.

EDIT:

But it doesn't seem to be consistent. Also keep in mind these are clips from the consoles, hopefully the PC version runs better solely based on more power to draw on.

At any rate I can't really detect fremerate drops properly so its not a big con in my book.

What I've been able to decipher from those links is that those problems are on the console versions and not on the PC version. While I understand the frustrations that the console gamers might have about this it also means that as long I won't experience these troubles, I really don't care.

There, I said it. I don't care if the console ports suck for the simple reason that I don't play on consoles.

Objectively speaking though. All of this, if true, is a problem. And it is certainly a problem I've become more aware of lately. Either that, or it's becoming more of a problem than it usually were.

The fallout reviews are dropping:

http://opencritic.co.../1508/fallout-4

Very positive overall. The criticisms you would expect are there. If you don't like Bethesda games you will probably not like this any more than Skyrim or Fallout 3. It's janky and there's bug but apparently overall storytelling, character interaction and voice work is all improved.

Here's a couple gameplay videos:

Friend got it on his Xbox One on Friday. He has been loving the game so far, and reported no issues.

Maybe the 30+ hours he put into the game mean he isn't as hardcore as these other people?

Or maybe he isn't doing his best to find issues with the game like a large majority of the community seem to be.

My body is ready for fallout4.

Very positive reviews, some reports of PS4 having framerate issues but I'm on Xbone and so far this hasn't been reported there.

Sorry I was skimming Apts doom and gloom posts and wanted to comment with what I've heard.

The main points I've seen so far:

+big, open world
+lots to do
+vastly improved combat

-stiff character animations
-by the sound of it you get the power armour very early on
-no weapon degradation (in keeping with the Skyrim comparisons)
