OK I actually read a good bit of the OP. Holy shit! This is like Civilisation on steroids.

I want to play. I really do. I love turn based strategy/tactics or RTS games. But 2 issues.

1. Time: Whatever the OP says I have no idea how much time cost this will entail for me, as knowing absolutely nothing about this type of game and understanding even less, I will have to coninuously refer to the OP.

2. Level of Skill= Negative. Will probably lose spectacularly and titanic my faction in the process.

So, is it possible that I can get a role where a faction leader basically tells me what to do? Like I said I really want to play, but am too terrified and confused at the same time to just say yes.

BTW Tapper, did you specialise in Early Modern European history?

That should be possible, up to a point at the least.
My specialization was classical warfare, more specifically military innovation in between the Pelopponesian War and the rise of Macedon.
I think Khell is the Renaissance man on the forum :D

I can play if you need the numbers. Tell me if I need to submit the roles. (If I'm needed.)

You'd make number 12, and that's only if I sign Gnaw up as a player instead of a mod, so yes please!

I am conflicted over this. I want to play, but the setup is so huge and complicated, I don't even know where to start.

Like most Tapper games, it'll be pretty straightforward once we're halfway into day 1 and he's made all the necessary clarifications, as well as a detailed "diary of a courtier" example timeline to walk us through it.

If you're not sure what to do, just sanctify the desert and sacrifice a shorthorn every day.

Harsh, but true.

Note to self, written on a post-it to be glued to every monitor + the phone:

Take a deep breath. Don't clarify anything, Taps. Be an asshole. You can do it. You will enjoy it. It is for the good of the game.

Sorry, I didn't mean for it to be harsh. I remember the (first?) Madeena game though where the OP made sense, there was just so *much* of it that it was hard to wrap heads around. But then you did this "a day in the life of a Madeena dude" sort of post that helped everyone lots and lots. I was just jokingly/praisingly referring to that!

I am having second thoughts, mostly because I am afraid of time constraints. I would like to see one of those "Day in the Life of ..." posts if you have one. It would help me be decide if I should flee.

I will try to work on that list
HiddenOne. You son of a bitch. You slimy, skulking, low-posting scumbag. You knew it would come to this. Roundabout, maybe. Tortuous, certainly. But here we are, you and me again. I started the train on you so many many hours ago, and now I'm going to finish it. Die HO. Die. This is for last time, and this is for this game too. This is for all the people who died to your backstabbing, treacherous, "I sure don't know what's going on around here" filthy lying, deceitful ways. You son of a bitch. Whatever happens, this is justice. For me, this is justice. Vote HiddenOne Finally, I am at peace.

Classical warfare? Love that. I once did a small undergrad paper on Homeric warfare. The Peloponnesian war makes for fascinating reading though I have always been more interested in Alexander.

As for the game, I see you already have 12, so I might not make the final list. But for what it's worth I am in.

If I don't make the list though, I want to spectate from Spoiler Heaven. I want to learn.

Have a read of the other Tapper games - the previous Noblesse one which more of a mini-version of this (none of the resource management really); Ghoul Gulch, which was also heavily about faction-play (but without alliances) and Tales of the Desert (which had factions but was more independently-played). They're all awesome and insane.

Before you read them, though, make sure you pay in 3 Wool, 10 Iron, and 1 Slave, pray at the Shrine of the Sun God, spin around three times to produce 4 Gems, buy a brewery, and use 4 bullets to sanctify the desert.

I will graciously beg Gnaw to help me out with modding, and there's HO on the fence.

So let's all take a deep breath and wait :-) chances are you can play!

I will spectate. Looks interesting and would love to play but I dont have enough time or mental energy to do a good job right now and dont want to half ass it. You have your 12 already so that is good.
