To me it looks like some people are coming to Tennes defense whereas Tennes has left the building hoping that the heat will die down.

Reason I didn't vote before and/or now is I was hoping to see something better materialise.

in terms of why could it have been a slip Tulas is because there are at least 3 players playing that have never been scum before. 3 newish players anyhow.

So Tennes could have slipped, argued against it being a slip and then quieted right down when the votes started coming in.

If you were a new player in a new role, what would be more likely? You spill the beans in your first post, or you post something innocuous and cautious?

The rest of the votes seem like people jumping in on the only excitement of the day. Tho, I wouldn't be surprised if the scummy good guys are already represented on the train...

Not at all. I know the bad guys are town this game. It's a reversal since there are limited good guys in this scenario.

Are you trying to cover the original slip by clouding the good guy bad guy dynamic?

Hardly. Just trying to nail down one of the scummy people on the train. Plus, I won't vote for Tennes just for that reason. Seems kind of stupid to me.

This. I think this is all day one non sense.

Nice, Triple post! Is this on purpose maybe?

Of course we are evil, we are on the side of the Wickan and Khundryl killers and acting under the direction of Lassen Korbolo Dom and Mallick Rel. That isn't a place where a "good person" finds themselves.

I doubt that the claw see themselves as the bad guys. They are protecting their Empress as best they can. You're looking in on it from a readers perspective but not from a claw assassins perspective. I'm sure there is enough Propaganda going round to convince them that the Khundryl and Wickans are bad races. Just like it says in the books, Mallick Red was that cause but the Claw weren't to know that at the time.

Evil, or just trying to earns the coin to feed the husband/wife and three kids, and afford the medicine for sick lil' Jimmy? The Adjunct has rebelled against the Empress and wants to start a civil war for the throne - we can't let her get back to her ships and army, we must save the Empire from even greater hardships than it's already feeling from the plague!

Also, I like Tulas' arguments against Korbas. Seems much more reasoned than voting for Tennes at the minute.

I took Tennes' post as jokey... It is possible that it's a slip, but I'm wondering how that would actually happen. Did he forget he wasn't meant to mention it, or what? We've got to wonder why he'd post that I suppose, but his explanation doesn't really seem farfetched to me. I agree with Venesara that the case seems like a stretch. I also think the train has raised a couple of things worth looking at. Firstly, the fact that it has garnered a good number of votes at this point, where people still haven't even checked in, is a bit strange in itself. Secondly, the fact that most of those votes are just "Sure, ok, cool" and then hopping on the train. This sort of thing doesn't provide much info on thread, and seems like people are looking for an excuse to lay down a vote, look active, without really telling us anything -- no comment on how likely they think that sort of slip is, or on Tennes' reaction, or anything. It's similar to the problem with people "voting to get a lynch", except that we're super early in the day so there's no excuse for it. Thirdly, these two posts caught my eye:

 Ultama, on 09 February 2015 - 10:04 PM, said:

Yep. looks like a slip followed by some good old scrambled eggs.

Ultama agrees that it looks like a slip and follows it up with...nope, nothing. It struck me as a little odd, though given how early it is, not so much as the next one.

 Korbas, on 10 February 2015 - 12:01 AM, said:

You do have to hand to it the guy. He singlehandedly got this game moving, and clawed his way to the top of everyones vote list.

I think a show of hands is order, How many think he should voted off the Island first? Hands up. Hands up. anybody?

Korbas seems purely like he's testing the waters before committing to his vote. He then does vote, after someone else joins the train.

Vote Korbas

Because I don't like that you seem more concerned with where the consensus lies than with what you actually think is scummy, when voting. Especially when it is so early, and the train you're discussing already has more people going for it that most trains normally do at this point.

Also worth noting that this all came swiftly on the heels of me actually voting for Korbas.

BTW PS, why does Korbas have two separate instances of 1 vote each in your post?

Doubt that too. You see the time stamps? Swiftly does not apply to this game.

Looking over the argument and context, I do actually agree to a degree. The comment about Tennes climbing to the top of everyone's list was made when Tennes had but 2 votes. Korbas added his vote several posts later to bring the count to 4, a nice solid train on next to nothing.

And FFS, claw = good/bad is irrelevant. This is mafia. Town and scum. Take the rest to the other forum threads.

Vote Korbas

The chances of a day one lynch going through are very low. If you couldn't tell I was playing with the "hand thing, you really need to get out more. The only thing slightly of interest, was the possibility that he was trying to play at being town.

I'm just not sure I buy that there's no ulterior motive, that you're just making a joke that coincidentally happens to be testing interest in a particular vote, as opposed to forcing the jokes in order to test the water. Especially given the timing of your vote...If you weren't genuinely testing the water, why not vote him at that point? What changes in the intervening time that makes you decide to vote Tennes when you do, instead of voting him when you ask for the show of hands?

It was more of a kinda "fuck it" moment. Adding to the train is bringing out more players, more discussion, more stuff to go over tomorrow.

Master Tennes takes heat so Tulas comes to his rescue or Korbas really was looking to see whether the tide was coming in and felt like he could surf to the end of the day by lazy voting Tennes?

My vote will probably land on one of these two players but I haven't made up my mind which one I'd vote for.

We have about 11 hours I think but I will check to make sure.

It was an early day one Vote. It was the best option at the time and whether it has a lot of merit now is not that important. Look at what it has spawned. If anything, I find the people that are saying how outrageous this day one vote is to be more suspicious.

Meh, surely the people who are actually analysizing it and saying why they do or don't agree with it are more useful than those just hopping on the train with a "why not, there's nothing else and at least it isn't me" sort of mentality... It wouldn't spawn anything if everyone just said "well, it's not got much merit but let's vote on it with zero reasoning given and hope that it spawns something".

Also, I feel like analysis of how the claw might see themselves in the book, and whether they are really bad guys or not, is overly tangential.

The question really is whether or not it would be reasonable for Tennes to refer to himself as a bad guy within a set up where the town are claw. Analysis of how far they would be subject to Empire propoganda or whatever is a poor excuse for contribution at best.
