You will need TWO sane presidents back to back after all the MAGA shit goes away for Canadian citizens start to trust you again. It's gonna be a while.

Pritzker for 8 years, AOC for the following 8 and Mamdani for the 8 after that (I know he wasn't born there but I'm hoping the rules can change haha) and I might be willing to trust the US again.

Don't worry, by then we'll be ruled by Grok.

All of us... and as much of the rest of the universe as Grok can conquer.

I love how you all think Trump won't get a third term if he is still alive

He probably doesn't need to be alive, either.

So the Liberals released their budget (it's not terrible, and feels Small c Conservative from the pre-reform days, if I'm honest) and the cons naturally freaked out and there was buzz about a non-confidence vote triggering a snap election....but that won't happen as with PP's continued lack of ability to learn the lesson from his election losses it would just shore up the Liberals into a majority....and now we have a Con (Chris D'entremont) crossing the floor to the Liberals as he was unhappy with PP's leadership style...the standings run the House of Commons are now thus:

Current seats:

LPC 171

CPC 142

Bloc 22

NDP 7

Green 1

So Carney would literally have to ask/make concessions to the single Green to pass his budget.

There is also talk from D'entremont that there are a few other Con MPs unhappy with PP who might cross...only two more need to do so and the Liberals would have a majority.

If the Cons don't turf PP in the Leadership review, they are asking for a 5th federal election loss the next time we DO go to the polls in 4 years. The Western Reform shit needs to end, Canada will not elect it and the sooner PP and Jenni Byrne are shown the door, the better...get yourself a centre focused Progressive Conservative Party again and you MIGHT start winning elections again. As it stands the party may be starring to splinter under the weight of that division....old school cons VS post-Harper Reformers...

Also, my fave thing to point out when people rant about the Deficit this budget proposes... is that adjusted for inflation it's smaller than Harper's last of the six deficits he ran...but they don't like hearing that.

Kind of surprised they aren't (unless they are) trying to convince some of the NDP to shift sides. It would seem like a logical move for any of them, moreso than Cons or Bloc.

Conservative MP Matt Jeneroux announces resignation from Parliament...LOL....my gods the haemorrhaging...and rumour has it that he was GOING to cross the floor to the Liberals, but the Reformers loyal to PP threatened him with a scandal so he quit entirely instead. He also seemed to indicate it's now, while PP tweeted that it would be in the spring (and it's worded kind of like a threat)...but this didn't' happen during the budget for no reason...it's relevant otherwise Matt would have waited. This is the best evidence that he WANTED to cross the floor, but couldn't for fear of retribution from inside his own party.

I think that's PROBABLY the final nail in PP's leadership coffin...but we could use one more for good measure.

As it stands now, if Matt tells May (who is Speaker) that he's resigned and she accepts that, May is kingmaker on the budget as an by-election for Jeneroux's seat can't happen immediately...

But yeah, the internal schism in the CPC really DOES seem to be Reformers VS PCs....and that house is going to have to come to order, so as a betting man the Leadership review turfs him, and when they pick a new leader it's going to be a bloodbath between those two factions...

If the Cons ever want to form govt again, the PC's need to win that fight...because Canada has refused the Reformer package 4 times now.

I think it was Lenin who said: “There are decades where nothing happens; and there are weeks where decades happen.”

So conservative MP Adam Chambers, just went on live TV and either lied through his teeth, or is a man who fundamentally does not understand the job into which he has been placed.

After Con Chris D'entremont's floor crossing he gave an interview that eviscerates PP's Conservative Party calls it a frat party more than governing and says intimidation and control was the order of the day...and he could no longer support that, so he crossed to the Liberals.

Chambers then goes on tV and says: "D'entremont crossing pushes the Liberals closer to a majority, and that the Canadian people were not afforded that option at the ballot box, Canadians voted for a minority parliament, they voted for this prime ministers power to be checked by an minority, and the fact that the PM instead of compromising some suggestions on the budget has decided to try to manufacture a majority by seducing or luring MPs from different parties, I think that it what we're getting at in terms of feeling a little bit of betrayal...."

Like he make sit sound legitimate (if not super reasonable), but it's a complete and total lie and wrong. They didn't afford anyone anything att he ballot box...we do not elect parties, we do not elect Prime Ministers, we elect members of parliament, individual human beings representing local ridings. The constitution of Canada doesn't even mention political parties, like at all. Parties only exist becuase we invented them to organize politics, but they have no constitutional power. What matters is who can command the confidence of the House of Commons. That's it. That's the whole rulebook. If Mark Carney's govt earns of enough MPs to hold a majority of confidence ....that's not manufacturing anything, that's parliament working EXACTLY how it was designed ad intended.

Chambers, as. sitting MP should know that...he's not some confused high schooler mixing up branches of govt, he's deliberately lying about it in the hope that if they repeat the lie enough to the public that the public will just believe it.

It's insufferable to watch these assholes try to claim that a floor crossing is betrayal....there have been 300 of them since confederation, 80 of which have happened in the last 25 years...hell the most recent of the opposite situation was Leona Alsev in 2018, she crossed from the Liberals to the Cons...and Trudeau said it was a function of our govt for her to be able to do this, and he wished her well...contrast and compare with the the absolute TANTRUM the Cons (MPs and Voters) are having right now about it...as it there isn't 300 examples of it in our history...

Once again the Conservative Party of Canada truly thinks its constituents are stupid and will believe the shit they spout...and hey maybe they do with the amount of people fighting this a mere 7 years after a Liberals crossed to the Cons and no one said boo.
