Hey! Forgive me if this is wrong section and/or there is already a thread on this (if thats the case please point me in that direction). Im going to do some 3d renderings and yet to find any detailed information on architecture of the cities on the book. Meaning any certain styles and materials used in the area. Id like to keep as true as possible. The cities im looking into right now are malaz city, pale and darujistan.

Or if no one is sure...whats your opinion on it? How do you see the cities?

Darujhistan is like 90% minarets.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

CN did an awesome sketchup model a year or so back. I think it was of Darujhistan or maybe Malaz City? Not certain.

Will try dig the thread up unless someone can beat me to it.

Thats kinda what I was looking to do but id be using 3ds max and autocad. I just wanted to get more facts and/or opinions as to what the cities should look like before filling in the gaps of what I think :(

Oh thats cool.

Well the city best described in the books has to be Darujhistan.

I'm thinking the closest match in architecture would be Istanbul in Turkey? Some might disagree.

I say Istanbul because theres lots of minarets and a quite a few baghirs in some of the art here and there but I'm not 100% sure its purely Arabic, perhaps Persian? Darujhistan has a Constantinople vibe to it.

I don't recall reading much about courtyards in the buildings? Darujhistan has a hot arid climate so one could expect most buildings to have a courtyard design.

There seems to be masonry going on to some extent so I imagine Persian architecture with Arabic flourishes...Domes, plenty of them and Vaults aswell, basilica style, with quite a few colonnades. The main building on the parliament hill, can't remember the name but I had the image of the Hagia Sophia whenever I read about it.

I Hope some of that was useful.

Yeah a middle eastern feel is what I thinking as well...there is mention of courtyards in buildings. Im assuming since pale isnt that far away its more than likely very similiar to darujhistan. Thanks dolmen

No problem, I'm happy to help, very interested in your project and hope it comes together.

Look forward to seeing what you come up with. :(

I've got a fairly long document with a lot of geographic details of Darujhistan, hope it helps.
Let me know if that link works. Google Drive always confuses me.
