Saw 'Fury Road' whilst on holiday in Weymouth last week. It was certainly an enjoyable action romp.

This was a really fucking good film. I think the fact that the plot was so daft with so many giant holes in it, yet I just did not care at all about them was testament to the sheer quality of the film overall. There have been explicitly 'thinky' indie shoegazers that haven't done in a full film what this did for the the visibility of debates about reproductive rights and the female body in between chase sequences and fights.

Lot of bullshit being talked on Return of Kings about it, but my officemate and I held it in such high esteem that we now have a picture of Imperator Furiosa on our wall of fame alongside The Smiths, Sharpe's Rifles and Frank Machin.

It also managed to carry those themes / social comments off without coming over as preachy at all, which is tricky.

Also, Guitar Gimp.

They are releasing a black and white silent film version with the blue ray. I'll watch it.

A more pressing concern. Are you guys suggesting Dredd is a great movie?

DREDD is a phenomenal movie.

This is not not a belief that can be common

Wait, you don't think Dredd is a phenomenal film? Everyone I know who saw it rated it as one of the best action films to come out of hollywood in a long while. It's not the raid, but it's a pretty good film.

And 78% on rotten tomatoes for an action film is a pretty decent rating. Are you confusing it for the sylvester stallone film rather than the recent karl urban film.

Indeed, the only way this makes sense is that Cause is confusing the Karl Urban DREDD with the 90's Stallone JUDGE DREDD.

DREDD is up there with MAD MAX for me as one of the finest examples of greatness in the action movie genre in the 21st century.

Woah! I totally skipped this too...off to go pick up a copy ..!

That does nothing for me.

But it's still a cool thing to do.

Well, it sounds like George Miller is done with Mad Max.

Not unexpected, the guy is like 70. I can imagine it's a taxing ordeal to get these films made.

I feel they should stop making them if Miller isn't on board...but Warner Brothers won't be able to do that, MMFR was too much of a critical Juggernaut to hope they let it rest at 4. Ah well, we can all look fwd to a likely mediocre 5th film. Not saying they can't find a director who could handle it, just that without Miller it won't be the same.

I just threw up in my mouth, just a little bit.

JJ Abrams isn't bad, but I really hope that he never gets any wear near Mad Max!
Screw you all, and have a nice day!

Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Lens flare in space is a real thing. Happens all the time in the NASA videos.

What Abrams ran into is that in a movie about a fictional place with all kinds of things whizzing about, the mass audience doesn't want lens flare because it jars the suspension of disbelief - DESPITE BEING A REAL THING.

People... sheesh...
