My favourite ep too. Filoni and the team just really seem to understand Star Wars.

of Maul was perfect. Obi wan was perfect - 'Look what I have risen above.' He was in no doubt who would win - and Mauls move was the same that ended Qui-Gon, which was neatly countered. And it ended with the Binary Suns theme from ANH. Brilliant stuff.

I think the episode was a result of restraint, as they tried not to make fan fiction. The original idea was Maul vs Vader at the end of season 2, with Maul losing (obviously) - which they changed, as they felt it would have been blatant fan fiction, and they also couldn't fit it all in.

I can see why BK didn't want Ezra to meet Obi-Wan and I understand his reasons...but I feel like this just seals Ezra's fate before the end of REBELS, prior to ROGUE ONE/ANH, and that feels like an organic way to finish his fledgling Jedi character before Luke enters the picture.

The space battle especially was damned fun. The Bendu stuff was alright, but not overly so. I think the producers just wanted this non-dark, non-light force user...and it mostly works, but I'm not as impressed as I should be with it...and I feel like it steals something from the Jedi Sith stuff...

Glad the Mandalorians came to help.

I will argue that this is the weakest of the season finale's so far. I MUCH preferred last season with Vader and Ahsoka....or even S1 with Kanan and Eztra VS Inquisitor to this...but then I'm not as big a Thrawn fan as everyone else is.

I thought TWIN SUNS was a FAR more enjoayble episode for my money...but then I'm ALWAYS a sucker for the Jedi/Sith stuff...and for Obi-Wan who is still my fave character of all time.

Bring on Season 4 in the fall!

Oh, and Filoni spent the whole panel in a tshirt that read "Ashoka Lives?" And while the trailer was running he changed it to one that read "Ashoka Lives!"

Alderaaan! Come on, how are they going to work it in? They have to, right? Season 4.. will they just end it before Rogue One? Or overlap with Scarif, and finish with Alderaan? The trailer had a Rogue One fatality about it.. maybe Ezra, Kanan and Ahsoka avoid becoming last jedi as they all find this neutral balance thing that is being brought out in Ep8? But the rest... I don't know how they'll all get through, and it would really add a punch to ANH if you knew what was happening on Alderaan and who was there when it goes up... it would be an awesome link.

Don't think the force users can make it out alive and keep it in line with the movies if they end at or just before Rogue One and Alderaan is involved. Bail would have mentioned more than just one "Jedi friend", even if they aren't technically jedi anymore.

Think it ends a couple of years before. They have to have time to build a bigger fleet.

Well, Ashoka already circumvents the rule from that line as she is (in her own words) "no Jedi" if Kanan and Ezra ride that same balance, they can get out alive too.

And I agree with the notion that this is also going to play out in THE LAST JEDI as well.

I also love that Filoni has finally managed to work in his giant wolf! He's been itching to do that for ages, although it was originally Ahsoka riding.

Filoni touched on the next animated series, saying that the end of REBELS in no way signifies the end of LFL Animation, but that he didnt want to talk about it yet and take away from the last season of REBELS.

Mark my words though...they will cast and create the fist season of the new show over the summer...so it will be ready to follow REBELS next year...and I'm fairly sure it will either be a post ROTJ show, the years between that and TFA....or a KOTOR show.

I mean, I knew Ahsoka hadn't died in her fight with Vader....and after Filoni's two t-shirts at Celebration ("Ahsoka Lives?" and "Ahsoka Lives!") I was more convinced she would be back....

but it's nice to have solid confirmation from the character herself.

Speaking with Yahoo, Ashley Eckstein teased the (eventual) return of Ahsoka Tano, in the wake of Dave Filoni’s T-shirt-based confirmation of her return for the show’s final season.

I want to know more about Ahsoka’s future as this kind of neutral character. Her lightsabers are white because she’s neutral. She’s not on the Dark Side, she’s not a Jedi. She’s not even a full-blown Rebel. What is she doing? Where is she? All I can say is, you’ll see Ahsoka again.

I'm in the camp that wants her to survive the end of this season. I don't think having her around somewhere in the OT crosses what Yoda and Obi-Wan said about Luke as she long ago let the mantle of "Jedi" fall from her shoulders. Sure it's a loophole...but retconning what was said and done in the OT has been a Star Wars trait for a long while now.
