I am drunk posting from the bar at trivia night but I find it quite strange that tennes went out of his way to make a response and totally ignored my comments which to me so far seem the most damming against him as spite or someone above me said

Another drive by vote by Silanah. Is anyone else seeing that?

It's also interesting that you assume that if Spite and I have off thread communications that we are instantly the bad guys. I'm not sure why you assume that the Dark Avatar has regular off thread communications. I would think that the all-powerful role would be more isolated, like the stereotypical killer in a scum vs town game (which is what Blend was going for in creating this game).

If you are not voting for me as the Dark Avatar, I'm not sure what the fuck you are doing, but I am glad that you are returning attention to yourself. I think you've slipped by one too many lynches.

Hmmm. So you were trying for a business deal with Varrick, while Mako was trying to take the dude down. And this means whoever is Bolin is safe from Varrik's machinations. Only thing is, Varrick was a saboteur in the series, making me wonder if he was a good or bad guy in this game. And why are you now useless Sil when you are a part of team avatar? I don't think you are necessarily lying (a dangerous game, claiming a role when only one person is CF'd), but something is off.

Agree that Togg is the better choice of the two. TS is playing a very typical style that gets those who use it in trouble, but is a solid approach.Vote Togg

Rikkter and Tennes are still niggling the back of my mind tho. Rikkter's reaction to being voted for bespeaks someone really eager to stay alive (either someone really into the game or someone with a really good role). I am also inclined to pay attention to D'rek's views, which puts Tennes on the radar, but at the same time, D'rek was a bad guy/gal/um../both? and thus targets for her are not targets myself or the majority of us. So I think Rikkter would be my other choice today.

Venesara seems like a player that just doesnt really care but wants us to kinda maybe think they are caring.

Those posts are the only posts from them. Two to which I responded but never actually got any follow up.

The only posts from Sorrit

Another player MIA that might get mod killed. No votes or nothing.

I think Korlat is also a player that just does a flyby once in a while saying not too much.

I have my vote leaning towards Venesara right now.

Of course your going to lean toward Venersara, that logic flow is not really that bad. Now Sorritt's post is bad for sure. I really can't stand players playing Mafia and saying the don't understand a theme of a game. Put some time in and play the role as you would. Feigning lack of understanding should get someone lynched as we need the most supple minds playing.

odd logic for venesara but no vote, hard to tell which way sil is leaning, quite equivocal if i may say so

Well flanking attacks are always dangerous, so I take your point there, Rikkter. What interests me though is the tendency to draw town/scum binaries really fast, especailly in a very interesting scenario like this. I am also very intrigued by Korbas who raises a very important point about teamwork, and that too in the spirit realm. Please take note:

Quote

Unulaq is the bad guy. But how do we stop him? As I mentioned above, it seems logical to me that it's going to require teamwork (a grouping of abilites?) and that the teamwork most likely needs to be in the spirit world. Locations and abilities usually mean that targets must be in the same location or adjacent. Therefore there might have been some "out of range" NA replies. If so, that would be helpful to know. We all have abilities so no one would be outing themselves if they confirm such a message.

So he wants us to do the following:

1. Tell him our abilities
2. Enter the Spirit Realm, which has some serious pitfalls
3. Cluster together in a 'team'

This reminds me of an episode of that old Sharpe show starring Sean Bean, where Sharpe has to defend a ridge aginst numerically superior French forces. He does this by showing off his 'cavalry' (actually 10 or so horsemen) positioned deceptively. The sight of cavalry immediately makes the French change from a loose formation to a tight square. This makes them vulnerable to Sharpe's artillery which excels at taking out troop concentrations and so he wins.

So my point is that while Korbas does seem to be making a constructive suggestion, it is a double-edged sword.

Or I could be totally wrong, of course......

I actually like this post of yours, it seems like Korbas is trying to convince us to go a certain way. And tbh, there is no one better to vote for today, do I'm quite down to voting for him.

Deflection right here! You are telling us someone is trying to steer a direction, then you are trying to manipulate about direct as you can here.

Back from not being here, took a few moments to read up, the Lynch on Tulas came out of nowhere and gained massive amounts of traction for no apparent reason. Venesara seems to have a hardon about killing me, he brings it up all the fucking time despite the fact that most people want to look elsewhere. Spites post here is gentle distancing from Venesara but with no vote or more a more serious on it, the idea goes nowhere and dies;

View PostSpite, on 15 December 2014 - 05:55 PM, said:

I've just been reading through. I don't see a particularly convincing reason to vote for either Tennes or Togg right now. I'd be much more inclined to vote on one of those pushing for their lynch instead.

We have moved past this stupid discussion multiple times but are being dragged back into it repeatedly making us waste more and more time on it. If you guys are truly not going to let it go and the majority agrees, then lets get this over with and lynch me so that we can take a look at other people. This is Day 4 and we are still harping on about it so it's getting a bit ridiculous and/or tiresome.

PS I'd appreciate it if you included my vote. That's the whole day gone without registering it.

If it was blocked somehow then can you confirm this?

I'd have to read up but Tulas being lynched came out of no where. 36 hour days plus a full weekend and Tulas wasn't even discussed. Then gets the most votes with very little reason. Mightily suspicious.

I thought you didn't bold your vote and that's why it wasn't counted?

I did say Tulas might be Bolin after their reveal, but then managed to get confused about which one of Unalaq's children Bolin liked - that's what skim-reading the Avatar wiki does to you.

Anyway,

Vote Tennes

because of the wording about stopping the Dark Avatar which Ultama caught.

M'kay, the people I am really noticing are Silanah and Rikkter (coincidentally the first three on the TS lynch train). Silanah for declamatory statement of little meaning but an enthusiastic show of hurling himself onto the lynch train. Rikkter for derailing a Tennes lynch for the second time (and spending time trying to defuse my statements against said suspect).

In fact, I invite people to take a look again at Day 1. So Tennes votes night (probably a true misunderstanding, etc). A lynch train piles up pretty quick but Rikkter is there hemming and hawing, taking Rikkter's side pretty quick, and eventually attacking one of the people on the lynch train (successfully I might add since it was Mockra). I guess there wouldn't be much to such a critical look at the game, if it didn't repeat itself yesterday in regards to Tennes (and Togg being thrown in for good measure, but I wasn't talking about Togg).

Vote Tennes

However, if we are willing to move past this (again, again) these posts are really interesting in their timing and tacit agreement and cooperation with each other without directly quoting or referencing each other. So;

Vote Venesara

for the moment. I would be happy to switch to Spite. They haven't had any on-thread communications which makes this sudden synchronicity frankly alarming.

I am also not feeling Venesara at all at this point, lot's of blame to go around and not much on the whole real Factual information bit of this game.

Vote Venesara

last three votes basically jumping on a train with no backup for why

so i see the drive by point against sil, there is very little reasoning behind the votes we're seeing and some contradiction in the venesara vote.

also i am now at home drunk because i lost at trivia. apparently i don't know enough about sports

my top choice is still tennes atm but i hesitate to vote... i don't want to get into wifom territory but we haven't seen any nks yet and just lynches which seem to be town, i wonder, what are we accomplishing? just kinda struck me as i was drinking my fill, we have no dark avatar, we have no information about other "factions'" or "team avatar" etc and yet those seem to be Vcs based on korbas and the op. based on current activity so far i feel like tennes is the only lynch i could go for but the whole process to me is becoming less cl;ear, if we are lynching town with no scum nks then wtf are we doing. where is the dark avatar and how do we defeat it. how can we defeat it if it is not there yet. op outlines reqs for dark avatar. i hesitate to articulate for fear that i may deviate from the true course of rectitude (fuckin high school military shit made us learn this by heart). i dunno, we have very little activity in recent days and that hurts us a lot imo, so i'm not laying a vote yet. i know ive been busy but that doesn't excuse lack of content from anyone.

Does anyone here NOT think that killing Unalaq will win us the game? Will we lose by default because we killed the dark avatar before he succeeded in turning into it?

The term "raise" is used ubiquitous in virtually any form of media for bringing life some big bad evil entity whether it is literally dead or merely dormant. To say nothing of the fact that the spirit world (at least in the setup) is below the physical, and that this Vaatu thing is imprisoned there.

Much ado about nothing which is why I didn't feel the need to comment to be honest.

Korra has finally mastered the art of airbending.

Mako
has joined the Republic City Police Force,

Bolin
is trying, unsuccessfully, to keep the Fire Ferrets pro-bending team alive,

and Asami Sato is struggling to keep her father's company, Future Industries, intact after her father's humiliating betrayal.

With Tenzin, the four young members of Team Avatar visit Korra's and Tenzin's family in the Southern Water Tribe for the Glacier Spirits Festival on the winter solstice. The celebration is attacked by an angry dark spirit, but Unalaq, Korra's uncle and the Chief of the Northern and Southern Water Tribes, repels it with his waterbending. He has displayed an ability to communicate with spirits that Korra has never seen before, so she apprentices herself to him, hoping that he could help her with her struggle to connect with her spiritual self.

Quote

Tenzin is dismayed to lose his student, but accepts that the Avatar must make her own way. He returns to Republic City, his sister Kya in tow, to pick up his family, including his brother, Bumi, and head to the Northern Air Temple so that Tenzin can teach his children about their Air Nomad roots.

Quote

Unalaq, his daughter Eska and son Desna always by his side, encourages Korra to open the Spirit Portals, noting that the world used to be one with the spirits, and that the closing of these portals has put up a barrier that has caused members of the Southern Water Tribe to forget their traditions.

Quote

As Korra is attempting to open the Southern Spirit Portal, Northern Water Tribe ships blockade the Southern Water Tribe, locking them away from the rest of the world. Varrick, of Varrick Industries, whose company is suffering from this blockade, begins secretly stirring up trouble and unrest in the Southern Water Tribe. No one seems to be the wiser, however, as he has set up Tonraq, Korra's father and Unalaq's brother, who has been vocally opposed to Korra's apprenticeship, as well as Unalaq's Northern Water Tribe blockade, to take the fall.

Quote

Mako knows better, however, and is now working to put together enough solid evidence to put Varrick behind bars. This is made more complicated by the fact that his good friend Asami is courting Varrick Industries to try and save her company, and that Varrick is attempting to recruit his brother, Bolin, to star in his propaganda 'movers' about Nuktuk, the Hero of the South, which he hopes to use to discredit the Northern Water Tribe's actions.

Quote

Amidst all this unrest, however, an even darker plan is unfolding. Though he has been careful to cover his tracks, Unalaq is actually using the Avatar to start Harmonic Convergence, a term signifying a time when both Spirit Portals are opened. Only during Harmonic Convergence can the dark spirit Vaatu be freed from the Tree of Life in the Spirit Realm, and fuse with him to make him into a Dark Avatar. It is his goal, ultimately, to rip the spirit of Raava from Korra and end the Avatar Cycle forever.

Quote

Will Korra discover that her plan to connect the Spirit Realm to the Physical Realm could have dark consequences? Will the machinations of all the other players in this game get in her way or hinder her? Can Team Avatar pull together to defeat the Dark Avatar?

So it is Unalaq that is trying to become the dark avatar. So it makes sense that we are trying to lynch him.

Quote

At its heart, this game is a Town vs. Scum game, where scum is the Dark Avatar, and town are everyone else except for 2 independent roles. The addition of Personal Victory Conditions means that people who are on the same team for their General Victory Conditions will be at odds for their Personal Victory conditions. Though it's up to you how to play, it would be greatly appreciated if you tried to attain both your Personal and General VCs as the Personal VCs are there to make the game more interesting.

There are 15 names mentioned in the OP. Maybe it is just coincidence, but I don't think so. Independent roles? I think 1 could have been Varrick, and the other Nuktuk? Only cause they are at odds with the rest of the story.

If Vaatu and Raava are players within the game, I seem to recall something like this happening in the last game. So I will look, in the meantime...

Spoiler

reading further you can scrap the Vaatu and Raava idea because...

Quote

The characters you'll find in this game are as follows:

Korra - The Avatar
Mako - Firebender
Bolin - Earthbender
Asami - CEO of Future Industries

Unalaq - Korra's uncle, Chief of the Northern Water Tribe, waterbender
Eska - Unalaq's daughter, waterbender
Desna - Unalaq's son, waterbender

Tonraq - Korra's father, waterbender
Varrick - Businessman
Zhu Li - Varrick's assistant
Tenzin - Avatar Aang's son, airbender

Bumi - Avatar Aang's son, non-bender, military background
Kya - Avatar Aang's daughter, waterbender
Jinora - Tenzin's oldest daughter
Ikki - Tenzin's second daughter, extremely locquacious
Meelo - Tenzin's first son, extremely mischievous

So ideally we are looking for Unalaq, Eska and Desna.

From a game point of view, Tennes is getting into the realm of pure Wifom, it benefits scum to keep him around, and I would not want to arrive at D day with a choice between him and someone else. However, personally I would like to clear up the Togg situation as he is evading a lynch with minimum effort. In fact the most effort he has put into the game has came when he was on the table for the lynch. I did not like Tulas' lynch. I haven't looked that way yet as I have been very busy but I will address that at some point.

Thoughts?

I am going to hold off on a vote for a bit to see if anything else happens on thread. So far a Venessara lynch looks like the best on table. Tennes has dodged a couple of lynches which I dont particularly like, however I see Ven's play as more scummy so far.
