Ohhhh congrats!

In one sense that is awesome news and makes me more excited... alas, in the other sense though... it makes real the wait that will be faced until release date...

Thank you for the clarification, I went to check the date a few weeks ago and seen that it was mid November, then went to buy the book and it was now December... I was like huh?! Must have been delayed...

Obviously I've been clicking on the different formats...

Book bought but not sure when I will get to start it.

Is that expensive or cheap?

Between 27 and 28 dollars. For a hardcover, that's in the normal range of a new book.

Great cover, isn't it.

After 'The Book of the Ancestor' trilogy I am soooo looking forward to this new trilogy, especially the setting on the ice after what we learnt in the first three books.

I think for a lot of people that would be thought expensive.

You can find the hardback on Amazon for around £17.00 and that is pretty much standard for newly released books nowadays...

-------------

I finally found some time to start Dispel Illusion and it's a really great start, just like the first two books, it hooks you in with it's own style, moves along nicely and teases the mystery to make you want more...

I've just hit chapter 5...

Mark... Mr. Lawrence... if you read this... how chapter 4 ends and chapter 5 starts is, well... mean! VERY MEAN!

Safe to say that the jobs I need to do tonight are going to be put off till tomorrow now.

Light spoilers as not sure who has read this...

Also a scene in chapter 3:

I cannot wait to see where this will go.

Amazon prices aren't the industry prices. If you look at Nora Roberts' Magick book that is the current hardback fiction best seller in the NY Times, it's available for $25-28. Amazon is the $25 and change price.

If you're finding hardback books for 17 pounds in the EU, then you're getting books for much cheaper than us Americans.

In fact, the current Amazon price for Nora Roberts is $17.25, with a note that the list price is $28.99. To be fair, a lot of brick-and-mortar retail stores do give 10-15% off the list price for new hardcovers (Target, Walmart, B&N, etc.)

17£ is still almost $23, though.

"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"

Yah, £17 would be a ball park for a new release hardback for me historically. A few years ago it was £15/16

Huh, I just noticed you've put out one full novel per year - not including all the other stuff - since 2011. Not bad Mark.

So is it "naked money fights with the Mrs" kind of $$$ or are you still doing the day job? I notice the options aren't giving you much. ;)
Maybe after GoT and if WoT makes phat lootz maybe Hollywood et al may come calling with actual cash money instead of options. These days the streaming companies seem to be a better bet.

13 books since 2011 - 4 trilogies and Road Brothers, which is a collection of short stories about Jorg and friends.

To be fair my books are never GRRM/Rothfuss doorstops.
