A moment of epicness!!!!

I loved this book, finished it up last night and read the interview, if this is the end to this "Verse" then I can take that, it is a fitting end...

But I hope it is just a case of "This is the end... for now" and not "This is the end," mainly due to a certain someone...

Ultimately though, I cannot wait to see what direction Mark will go in next...

Enjoyed the book, loved the return of an old favourite. It was great that you could tell before it was made perfectly clear.

I got off track with Lawrence's works a few years ago (after Red Queen's War) and thus decided to go all the way back to the beginning and start over in audiobook format. I'm through Prince and King of Thorns now and really appreciating the nuance of Jorg much more now. He's such a little shit but it's hard not to root for him since he really appears to be such an underdog so much of the time.

Question:

It's a good job I remembered my password after a while (changed laptops). Because the whole "forgot my password" thing is totally busted. First off, it has the world's most difficult "what are these letters" thing, demanding the right case an changing the letter sizes ... is that a capital W or a little w? Who knows? And second off ... when you get it right eventually ... it doesn't send you the promised link to change your password. </rant> <who am I kidding? Imma keep on ranting>

Last night before I drifted to sleep, I was thinking about the convergence of stories upon this one point of starting to heal a threatened world. It isn't one person who fixes everything, even if Nona or Yaz do extremely important things. It's all of them.

That's rather nice and it was skillfully done.

Where does this convergence take us though? What's next after a big inflection point in the fixing of a world? The real world we live in shows is that progress is not linear at all and that pain certainly waits in the future.

Then I slept with no easy answers other than "I bet Mark is writing something fun".
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

I am!

I'm 80% of the way through book 3 of something fun.

Soon I'll be thinking about what new thing to start. I'm considering finishing off Jacob's Ladder, the first 6 chapters of which can be found on Wattpad.

So I have finally started Prince of Fools and I have the other two Red Queen books ready to go.

I'm only about 40 pages in (this version has 502 pages) but I am already loving Jalan. What a hilarious narrative voice he has! His observations and thoughts have made me chuckle a few times already and the hijinks he gets into will no doubt keep me entertained.

For some reason even though I read the Broken Empire trilogy (don't quite remember what happened in that tbh) I don't think I've seen a map. Firstly, Mark, thanks for saving Yorkshire haha

Secondly, is this meant to be in our future or an alternative version of our world? Or is there an element of RAFO?

Anyway I am already hooked and should definitely have read this series earlier. I think after this there will only be the "Girl and the Mountain" books of Marks to read and I picked up the first one on Kindle a while back. Happy days

There's definitely RAFO that includes basically every book that Lawrence has written - One Word Kill series too.

Huh. Interesting. I have seen vague mentions of this in this thread but I've tried hard to avoid spoilers as I've always planned on reading everything!

Might need some guidance in a few weeks as I don't remember stuff from books I read a while back...

Seconded without hesitation. That trilogy is fantasy lit gold.

Does anyone know of a good synopsis of the Thorns books? I'm at the part in Prince of Fools where [Spoiler]Jal and Snorri make it to Ancarth, they meet the Brotherhood and go to the palace for a bit. Everyone's on about Jorg etc and my memory of that series is a bit patchy so I'd like to just get a reminder of what went down. I've checked Goodreads and Wikipedia but they don't quite provide what I'm looking for...

I've finished Prince of Fools and man that was a blast! Happily I've got Liars Key lined up next! Still trying to work out whether this is an alt-earth or a future earth. Like, why do they know about some things like Christianity and the Norse religion but not other things. Like cars and computers.

Yeah they reference that and it's what I figured. I'm still not sure how some things have come through that and others haven't. Like, the Norse have reverted back to something that happened 1000s of years prior.

And I'm guessing

And I know, RAFO, but I have so many questions!
