Woah, some bastard burgled Mark.

Took his daughter's communication device and suction machine.

Hope someone catches up with them and retrieves Celyns stuff.

So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

I have recently read both trilogies and Red Sister by Mark, fantastic writer, becoming one of my favourites.
Apt is the only one who reads this. Apt is nice.

Finished PRINCE OF FOOLS. Jalan is a great Flashman-coward style character, and Snorri is a perfect heroic opposite for that. Loved the aspect of the light/dark spell and how it worked, coupled with the avatars that were put into their heads. A real interesting non-Jorg look at the Broken Empire. Speaking of Jorg, the close cvall with the Brothers and the Queen ect. was all great! Just a phenomenal start to the follow up series.

...

Can't wait to read book 2 now.

About 75% thru the earbook and loving it. Jalan is great, Snorri is fucking epicness embodied.

Dang that's awful. Just checked his page, and he's actually redirecting the good will people have offered him towards a charity. Real good dude.

Just finished Mark Lawrence's Grey Sister. It's one of my favorite Lawrence books, second only to The Liar's Key.

I normally pre-order Mark's books (or have done since I think EMPEROR OF THORNS), but it completely slipped my mind this time, and I was out and about and lo and behold, there it was. Sorry all.

I'm halfway through RED SISTER now and let me just say "Holy shit. This book is incredible and gets better with every page"

I await your final verdict of the tail end of the book to see if it marries in anyway to how I felt at the end

Thoughts at just over the halfway mark of RED SISTER.

Spoiler

Still such an amazing book, with such vivid characters!

Your last point, someone (Coco?) asked Mark directly earlier in the thorns thread and he responded in kind. It's not really a spoiler but probably safer to hold off until finished

Finished grey Sister on Wednesday. Great books, love the world and story. It continues to have serious echoes of empire of thorns books in which magic is technology but if this is intentional or just a great plot setting used twice I cant say.

There were one or three moments when I found the narrative shifted suddenly. That is who was talking or what they were talking about just shifted or pivoted on a dime into something else that I found confusing but otherwise it was solid. Some great lines and thougts throughout.

Spoiler

Edit- There were moments reading this book where I was getting such strong echoes from the blood song books that I had to think about which was which. Interestingly I just found a Q and A where he does list it as an influence. I don't meant that to say its derivative but the religions seem to have had such strong parallels for a moment...

Also Mark Lawrence may be able to compete with Branson Sanderson soon for prolific author. I read that the trilogy was already complete for before they published red sister. Still if that's true why do I have to wait so long for Holy Sister

I saw road brothers is a thing. Will get that soon
