I'm finishing up DG as part of my reread, but the scene with Kalam looking at the layers of bone and seeing the crown mark in the Imperial Warren raised a few questions.

1. Was it Kallor or Kaminsod who actually seared the continent?

2. If Kaminsod, was it the unintended result of his fall onto Wu?

3. If Kallor, was it during a battle with Kaminsod, or just something he did in all his arrogance as retaliation?

Most important:
4. If it was the Korelri who called down Kaminsod, why did Kallor destroy Jacuruku?

EDIT: Also, people seem to believe that the metal wheels Kalam saw at the bottom of the pit were K'chain devices. I had thought it was some timekeeping device of Icarium's, given the focus on him and them throughout DG. Thoughts?

1. Kallor seared the continent.
2. Kallor did it because he knew that the Elder Gods - Draconus, Nightchill and K'rul were coming for him, and he destroyed his empire just to spite them.

Since you are on a Reread, all this should hit you in the MoI prologue.

Blanking on the machinery.

Why did you get the impression that the Korelri were involved in this?

It's mentioned all across the books.

The circle, a group of mages on Korelri, tried to summon a powerful god that could destroy Kallor and the Jakarukuian Empire. Kallors empire was looking to expand and Korelri was up next.

EDIT To be more specific, read the prologue and sections with Kallor in them in MOI. Also read Blood and Bone.

Stonny incoming with relevant quote in... 3... 2... 1...

Actually, at the end of B&B Pon-Lor and the Light High Priestess Saeng stop the Thaumathurgs from calling ANOTHER CG down. Also, Kallor orchestrates the whole Adwami stuff because he wants to slaughter all the Thaumathurgs, so it is heavily implied that it was not the current Korelri who called down the CG.
