Maybe it was a crappy thing to do, but I really wasn't thinking in terms of handcuffs when I made the pick. I was thinking in terms of who do I think is the best available RB? It wasn't an intentional handcuff steal. My impression was West is most likely splitting time with Tate. I'm not sure I'm following your logic about committees vs this, but oh well.

West is a 7th/8th round draft pick (depending what source you look at), so expecting him to be there late in the 8th round is dicey. But if we do have a gentlemen's/ladies' agreement not to poach handcuffs, point me to it and I'll work out a deal with HD. I don't want to have bad feelings between people before the season even begins. I want to wait until Drew Brees is kicking all of your asses. (Or having the worst season of his career, which is what I really do to QBs.)

A 'handcuff' is (generally) a Backup Running Back that you draft and leave on your bench in case your Starter gets hurt.

I suppose the term could apply to some of the more run-happy QBs now, but it's generally only used in relation to getting your backup RBs. Technically our league, at 12 players, is small enough that everyone could have 2 starters and almost everyone could have a starter as backup, but that ignores RBBC situations.

So as an example, when I made a choice a while back to get Terrance Williams (I went with Crabtree in the end) but he was third choice. He would be Bryant's handcuff? Or alternative?

Well no, because some times teams use 3 or even 4 WRs on a single play.

The term is pretty much only applied to teams with a 'Starting' RB, and then a second, backup RB.

What do you think of Moreno? He seems to be back and flying but is ranked quite low down everywhere. #145 will be too early for me to grab him right now but there are players free like Decker who I rank higher than some of those around him.
