It's the first and only airline where the staff bombarded us with advertising over the speaker for the entire flight, and offered scratch-off lottery coupons. Wonder in flight! And for all that trouble, if you're traveling with a bit of baggage it's not even much cheaper than an airline like SwissAir or Lufthansa.

Okay, I'm serious about my journey now what with having booked a flight. I'll be at the Oslo airport 18:35 on Friday. So, where do we meet? Should I book a hostel room for two nights or can I camp on someone's sofa (restriction: serious animal allergies)? :-D How many others will be appearing?

ETA: Flying back to F-land on Sunday afternoon. More expensive than I had planned, but how often do I get to meet other Malazan peeps??? :rolleyes:

Well, I'll be there, and I can certainly find some cheap places to eat and cool places to drink in Oslo. I do however not have room for anyone I'm afraid.

(Guys don't be disappointed by the fact that unlike 99,9999999% of Finns, I don't drink alcohol. :D I'll explain why when I meet you guys. Heavily sugared coffee will help me laugh at everything that moves, though.)

kaamos: Turns out I'm moving, so I'll be living about an hour by train outside of Oslo. I'll have room for you, but it makes travelling around Oslo a little harder.

EEEEEEE thanks so much!!! :-D Is it okay with him? An hour's fine; it takes me 40min to travel to work every morning by bus.
I like to bring people who provide me with some sofa space a gift of some kind. Anything that you particularly like (I'll bring something anyway so it's more practical to ask beforehand)?

So, we're aiming for the saturday being the big day I assume.

What sort of day you guys want this to be? I mean, we're not many (3,4,5?) but that's hardly a recipe for boredom. Kaamos, do you want to see something in particular? Hang out with a beer (non alcoholic ones are also available :) ) and talk, og to a concert?

Also, what sort of cost level are you guys comfortable with? Norway is expensive, but as with all other places there are degrees. We can eat and drink at the cheapest placest, or the reasonably cheap places. Or the best places (often within the reasonable category, but not always).

Had this been summer I would have advocated for one of Oslo's many parks, but at the end of October the outdoors can be challenging.

I might also be able to find a concert or some such. Might be free, might be we'll have to provide a covercharge (usually in the NOK 100-200 range, which would be about EUR 12 - 25).

I swear I'm not as mute as Sister Finland! I can say "perkele" at least!

I visited Oslo last year so I'm acquainted with the level of costs--about on par with Finland. Still I didn't have to pay four euros for a cup of coffee as in Tórshavn two years back.
I'm quite an omnivorous type of person when it comes to entertainment--I do hiking, easy-level mountain climbing, museums, concerts, etc. I've seen a few of Oslofjord's sights such as Vikingskipshuset, Norsk Folkmuseum, Borre mounds, Munch paintings, etc. but let me have a look at my Norway guidebook and get back to this within a couple of days (provided of course that everyone's interested in the same activity). What kinds of concerts do you have going? Would some mountains outdoor entertainment be out of question? I've learned to tolerate Octobers by now. :-D Hanging out and talking as well of course! :-D

Guys, could we exchange names/phone numbers/emails by PM? So I know who's who and where to meet when the hour arrives.

So, we're fast approaching the 25th. I've found a free concert we could go too if people are interested. Otherwise there's plenty of excellent pubs available for our pleasure.

I have no clue how many actually will be attending though. However, if you are attending you might want to send me a pm so that we can exchange numbers. It'll be easier on the logistics if there's a good way for us to get in touch come the week-end.

Sorry for not responding on this.

For the last five years I've worked remotely for my old job back in Jersey, which has kinda sucked because I'm not one for sitting on my own all day, but still... had work, carrot complain.

Shortly after this thread was made I finally landed a job based in Copenhagen so I can work in an office with other poeple like a normal person. Great, except I'm in Jersey almost all the time at the moment while they suck all my knowledge out of brain to pass on to others. Sadly I won't be back until November.

gust shit timing, I really would have liked to come.
