SciFi is kicking ass with Expanse and Magicians.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. Gwendolyn Christie doesn't really work for Bobbie though. Yes, she's huge and intimidating by she completely lacks the islander background and attractiveness that is party of Bobbie.
They put up a great article about the casing decision for her awhile back :Bobbie Casting
I'm with Abyss on being happy on the changes to the story that have given us Bobbie, Avaserala, and -my favorite casing choice so far- Jared Harris' Anderson Dawes early though.
I'm not sure which I'm more excited for at this point - season two or book 6.

A two hour premiere that I won't be able to watch till the weekend....lol.

I'm fascinated with how they are going to (further) merge books 1 and 2.
S1 ended more or less halfway through WAKES, with the added Avarsarala elements from bk2.
Now we have Bobbie, a bk 2 character, itro'd before the bk 1 protomolecule storyline is even wrapped.

We're also going to see Mei (which leads me to believe we'll see Praxidike too), as her backpack is a prop for this season.
