6 eps down and wasn't sure what to expect as I've never read the books but enjoying it so far. It is entertaining enough to fill some gaps.

Slightly OT but are the books worth a read? Not read much Sci-Fi and wanting to read more.

They're not the deepest meditations upon issues or best/most original characters ever written, but the books are gloriously fun to read. Huge, zippy, kinetic storylines that never bog down. The characters develop well and certainly grow on the readers.

Yes, it's worth reading.

I'm on a guided trip (Birthright) and I haven't even had time to read the books that I brought with me!

Finally got to see the first episode last night. Enjoyed it muchly, thought it did a good job of setting up the two main characters, and I really liked all the zero-g stuff. Really hoping this series fires up my enthusiasm to go back to the books. I read the first one three or four years ago and thought it was okay, but by the time I bought the second one I'd forgotten most of LW so figured I'd need to re-read it - and never have done

Miller as annoying ghost to Holden that makes him seem nuts is just too much fun to ignore!

And yeah, the crew hostility needs to go the fuck away. It grates on me and hampers my enjoyment of the show.

I'm not sure about that. Tactile analog interfaces for some systems mixed with portable digital devices for non-critical systems seems like it would be better in terms of safety, ease of use, ability to operate under dangerous conditions, and so on.

In ep 4, the Donnager 'sploddy ep, Avasarala gets the news about the battle going on between the Donnager and the unknowns, and goes to sit out on her roof and stare at the skies.
There's a meteor shower going. Her grandson sits down next to her and they have the following exchange, paraphrased from memory....

"You don't have to be scared grandma. It's just gravity. None of them are big enough to hurt us."
"I don't worry about gravity. I worry about people who throw stones."
"No one's going to throw a stone that big. That would be silly."

They just foreshadowed a major event from NEMESIS GAMES right there. They added a scene in an entire plotline not in the book just to do it.

These showrunners know wtf they are doing and it has some serious potential to be spacefucking awesome.

really enjoyed the finale...I know this has got a 2nd season but if they can keep the same quality in 2nd season I can't see why this wont run for a long time...

I haven't read the first book for a couple of years but didn't the season finish about 2/3 into Leviathan Wakes...I'm sure there was quite a bit more to happen...

My wife is bored by it...and is only watching the finale because she's made it this far. She likes aspects of it, but overall isn't impressed.

I don't find myself REALLY desiring to watch it off the PVR. It's just what I put on when everything else is watched and deleted. I don't hate it, but the books just do more for me somehow. Not sure why.
