Just found a Legendary laser gun in Stanton's Liver called Excalibastard. You have to have a badassrank of 2500 to pull it out of the stone:

http://borderlands.w...i/Excalibastard

I am just posting it here so that I remember to go and collect it when I get strong enough.

I found that last night too - was wondering what the deal was! I figured I'd get a quest later for it, good to know it's about Badass Ranks!

Yeah, the description asks you if you are enough of a badass to pull out the gun. I figured it was my badass rank it was referring to, so I googled it.

I am at around 500 badass rank now, so I am assuming you have to be level 40 or something if the ranks follow my level progression.

Athenas Aspis shield is fucking awesome.

Theres something terrible satisfying about loading it up with as much damage as you can and whirling it at a Badass and killing him in one blow.

Easiest way to load it with badassness is bring up your shield and blow up a barrel right in front of you. Awesome.

That sounds really awesome!

Nisha's ability is an auto-aim style ability - basically while it's on, you automatically aim at any bad guy that's within your field of vision. It's a great way to clear out a bunch of bad guys all at once!

I played this pretty much all weekend - I'm at level 21 or 22 now, and I'm working on retaking the Helios station. This place is like a frikkin' maze!

Veins of Helios is the worst. And then you get a ton of sidequests taking you back there!

It's ok though, because I got my Fragtrap to level 25, and therefore access to PIRATE SHIP MODE
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

No kidding! I'm stuck trying to figure out how to get into the saferoom where the 3rd courier guy ran to. And I failed one of the other quests in the Veins so I have to try that again (I don't remember which one it was, exactly). I frikkin hate trying to navigate through it - it's so big, with so many levels, and EVERYTHING looks the same!

The electric laser gun you get from Moxxi right before you go up to the Helios station is the best weapon EVAR, though!! Usually when I walk into a group of enemies, I just pop Nisha's special ability and hold down the shoot button and EVERYTHING DIES!!! Except for the powersuits. I love it! :unworthy:

It's really handy, I've been rolling with that, Boganella, a high-ass damage sniper rifle and whatever is the least bad assault rifle/sub machine gun I can find.

Also Torgue Fiesta is amazing, it's a torrent of grenades fired from your body and they hurt friends and foe, so obviously when I play multiplayer it's aiming for that action package all day every day. If I can't get the Pirate Ship.

I love me my sniper rifles - I was a sniper assassin in Borderlands 2 as my main character, and I got really good at sniping. Up until I got the laser weapon, the sniper rifle was my # 1 weapon. But I find it difficult to snipe in the Veins because there are just so many places for the baddies to hide and sneak up to you from. So the laser weapon has been my saving grace.

It's also really good for building stacks for Hyperion Punch, which is less a punch and more a meteor/fireball attack. Not caring about oxygen is also great. Also handy here is the action package that gives you a rubber ducky inflatable ring and bounces you around while deflecting bullets. What I'm saying is that Claptrap is the worst NPC and the best PC.

The oxygen thing hasn't really been a problem for me. Yes, you have to sometimes walk a few extra steps to make sure you hit an oxygen zone, but if you're like me, and you explore almost everything anyway, it's very rare that you're too far away from a spot where you can refill your oxygen. I think I've actually run out of oxygen only once so far, and that's because I wasn't paying any attention to it as I was doing some really long jumps that required me to pay attention if I didn't want to fall to my death, and I made it back to oxygen fast enough that I only lost about 1/4 of my health.

The third and fourth weapon slots are unlocked way to late in the game. The third slot is unlocked around 1/3 to 1/2 of the way through the game and the last one is unlocked 2/3rds to 3/4ths of the way through the game. There's absolutely no reason why the playing shouldn't just have access to 4 slots from the start.

They still only allow you to track one quest at a time, which is annoying and often means you have to do the same areas over and over again.

This might just be a case of the random spawning of weapons giving me a raw deal but I've had trouble finding really good or unique weapons. I've only found one good SMG and I haven't found a single good Assault Riffle the entire game. Every single AR has either been a white or green quality Jacobs riffle (which I hate) or been rocket/explosion aspected which again is no fun. Similarly the shotguns have been underwhelming, which are usually my favorites. I'm also unhappy with a lot of the laser weapons. Too many of them are slow firing shotgun style burst weapons. I wanted more GI Joe pew pew assault riffle style weapons. The beam weapons like Moxxis vibrator thingy are fantastic though.

Finally, I haven't finished the game yet, but I am disappointed with the story arch. I was expecting more than I think we will get but maybe they will pull a fast one on me before the end. The story is the best one yet I think but that's not saying much. It's like saying this is the best cup of shit they've served yet!

Speaking of story.

I am approaching the end of the game now and I have some speculation about Jack.

Don't look in here unless you've been to Helios and listened to some of the Audio Logs.

Good example of a flaw, the fucking RK5 fight is a shit boss fight and it sucks and I hate it. IT IS BAD DESIGN TO GIVE THE BOSS FULL HEALTH WHEN YOU DIE BUT NOT UNSPAWN THE ADDS >:C

Probably would hate it less if I didn't spend 20k credits on a blue 401 damage 10 clip good accuracy good fire rate electric sniper rifle (my old rifle was 286 and pants) to finally kill that flying shitheap THAT SPENDS FAR TOO FUCKING MUCH OF THE FIGHT FUCKING ABOUT AT MAX RANGE, only to open the moonstone reward chest and get an identical one, just purple and with 489 damage. NOPE, IT STILL SUCKS

Grind it up.

Turn those whites into greens, greens into blues and blues into purples.

You can look up the grinder recipes online and make whatever you want.

I usually sell the whites for cash and save greens and above that i wont use for the grinder. I'm level 20 and have all blue and purple gear from mostly grinding.

I managed to down RK5 with only one death, so I think you're just a whiner!

I'm completely stuck on the Sentinel right now, I've died about a gazillion times. I manage to clear his shield once, then he recharges, then basically bends me over a table. After the 5th death I gave up and started a Wilhelm playthrough. That being said, I don't currently have any cryo weapons on Nisha, so I think I'm gonna go find some then hopefully that'll help me get further in the Sentinel fight.

I played through the game with Wilhelm.

Only boss fights I had problems with was the General what's her name battle because she had some kind of crazy one shot kill move that got me a bunch of times.

The final boss fight would have been more of a problem if the first stage of the fight hadn't given me a purple shotgun that fired rockets and completely destroyed the final form.

Really liked this game. Shame the story was so poorly executed I think they could have done so much more with the Alien stuff.

Pfft, I downed once in the entirety of Eleseer and the Sentinel fight. I'm not even kidding, it took standing in the pool of corrosive acid (which seems to ignore shields) on the second phase's third face (oh he has another phase, SPOILERS) before I fell over. While my health dropped to really low whenever he changed faces in phase one from the shockwave, Killbot meant my health regen'd from the adds and my shield barely dropped no matter what the damage and oh my god I was a killing machine. It genuinely became too easy.

I don't really know what suddenly made me invincible, but I came back to Eleseer after doing the abandoned training facility thing, and the Haymaker shield is the only thing I can think of that would account for my sudden inability to die.

e: and Zarpedon's fight was difficult until I turned into a pirate ship and blasted her broadsides

I guess I've just gotten too used to being able to literally drain the bosses with Nisha's Showdown ability. When your weapon doesn't ever miss, it tends to destroy things, but this guy's got 4 health bars, I just need more practice at staying alive while on cooldown.
